Bucified Bert is honored as the First Bucs’ Fan
The Bucified & “OLÉ is Alive” Mission has awarded a $1,000 Back to the Future/ Dream Seeker scholarship to Alexis Forbes of Lakeland, Florida. Miss Forbes is an incoming freshman and stu- dent athlete at the College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, GA.
Forbes is a graduate of McKeel Academy of Technol- ogy in Lakeland and was a standout on the basketball court. Among her achieve- ments as the Wildcat team’s center, she:
Averaged 16.3 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game
Ranked in the Top 50 in Florida for blocks (no. 33) and double-doubles
Second-highest leading scoring in District 5A-8
Two-time All-Polk County Honorable Mention
Florida Hospital Athletic All-Star and a 2018 Florida Basketball Bulletin Standout
Played in the Florida Ath- letic Coaches Association All- Star Classic
Helped McKeel to three
district championships and three regional competitions
Albert Owens, also known as “Bucified Bert,” will be inducted into the Pro- fessional Football Ultimate Fan Association (PFUFA), at the Hall of Fame, in Canton, OH. He is the 2018 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fan of the Year, the first fan ever in- ducted.
He made the check pres- entation to Alexis on behalf of his organization, “OLÉ is Alive.” The organization was created 14 years ago with the purpose of encouraging in- tegrity and saying “no” to negative habits. This is the 17th Dream Seeker Scholar- ship, in honor of his mother, Emma-Lee The Legend.
Alexis will play for the Coastal Georgia Mariners this fall.
