  Elderly Man Dies In Single-Car Accident
 A 71-year-old man died Saturday afternoon in a single car ac- cident. The accident took place on I-75 north of Fletcher.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Lawrence James McKiernan, of Tampa, was driving a 1998 Mercedes SL north- bound in the center lane. For undetermined reasons, around 3:51 p.m., he lost control of the vehicle. It left the roadway, en- tered the grass shoulder, collided with a fence and flipped over into a retention pond.
McKiernan suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 Tax Fraud, ID Theft Nets Man 9 Years; Must Pay $435,499
 A Tampa man was sen- tenced to serve a lengthy prison sentence and repay more than $400,000. He pleaded guilty March 26, 2018.
Judge Virginia M. Hernandez Covington handed down a sentence of 9 years and 8 months in prison to 30-year-old Tyrone Dev- lin. He was charged with conspiracy, theft of govern- ment property, access device fraud, and aggravated iden- tity theft.
Devlin was Court or- dered to repay the Internal Revenue Service $435,499, which are considered the proceeds from the conspir- acy.
The Court also ordered that this sentence be served consecutive to the 10-year prison term Devlin is cur- rently serving in Florida State Prison for unrelated crimes.
According to Court docu- ments, between May 2012 and June 2013, Devlin, Marquis Thornton, and others conspired to commit tax fraud and identity theft

offenses.
As part of the conspiracy,
they obtained stolen identi- ties that included the Depart- ment of Veterans Affairs medical records. The records were used to file fraudulent federal income tax returns.
The fraudulent tax re- turns claimed refunds to which the conspirators knew they were not entitled.
Devlin, Thornton, and their co-conspirators ob- tained debit cards issued and/or registered in their own and other people’s names and directed that the

funds to be loaded onto debit cards.
They then used the debit cards to make ATM with- drawals and for other pur- chases and shared in the proceeds of the fraud.
The conspirators filed more than 400 fraudulent tax returns claiming refunds that totaled more than $2.5 million and received more than $435,000.
Thornton previously pleaded guilty for his role in the scheme and was sen- tenced to six years and six months in federal prison.
     Pedestrian Recovers After Being Struck By Car
  A 39-year-old man is recovering at a local hospital after being struck by a car. The accident took place early Sunday morning at Nebraska and Fowler Avenue.
According to the Tampa Police Department, Ms. Chastity Hill, 29, of Tampa, was driving westbound on Fowler Avenue, shortly after midnight. The traffic light was in her favor when Otis Jeffery entered the crosswalk against the no crossing sig- nal and was struck.
He sustained serious injuries and was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The investigation is continuing, police said.

 HART’s New Route 275LX Launched July 1
  The launch of the Route 275LX on July 1, marked a milestone in local transporta- tion, with the region’s first seven-day-a-week inter-county route.
The limited-stop service will operate hourly, between Wesley Chapel and Tampa In- ternational Airport, with addi- tional stops in New Tampa, the university area, and downtown Tampa. Service hours for the Route 275LX will be Monday- Sunday,from6A.M.-10P.M.
The launch of the Route 275LX offers residents, busi- nesses, and visitors, more ac- cessible, cost-effective
transportation access between Hillsborough and Pasco Coun- ties.
HART’s Route 275LX schedule will connect with Pasco County Public Trans- portation’s (PCPT) Route 54 at the Wiregrass Park-n-Ride, traveling both east to Trinity/New Port Richey and west to Zephyrhills.
The Route 275LX is funded by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) as a part of the Urban Corridor Project.
