A private funeral and bur- ial for Kobe Bryant, 41, and his 13-year-old daughter, Gi- anna Bryant, took place on Friday, Entertainment Tonight reports.
The death of the retired Los Angeles Laker, along with eight others, sent somber waves throughout the coun- try. The January 26 helicop- ter crash in California is still under investigation by the NTSB but preliminary re-
ports have excluded the pos- sibility of engine failure, as Blavity previously reported.
“The ceremony was ex- tremely hard for everyone as it’s still hard for them to grasp they lost two beautiful souls,” a source told Enter- tainment Tonight.
The funeral took place in Corona Del Mar, about two hours south of Calabasas where the helicopter crash occurred.

The officer, Alan Strick- land, claims that Ujiri struck him in the face and chest with both fists while attempting to access the court following the Raptors’ NBA title clincher.
Strickland claims that he “suffered injury to his body, health, strength, activity and person, all of which have caused and continue to cause Plaintiff great mental, emotional, psy- chological, physical, and nerv- ous pain and suffering.”
MEL TUCKER
kers came back to Tucker with a much improved offer — one the coach could not ig- nore.
Michigan State will more than double the $2.7 million Tucker was making at Col- orado and double the salary pool for Tucker’s assistant coaches, which was $3.15 mil- lion in 2019.
A police offi- cer has filed a lawsuit over alle- gations that Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri assaulted him after Game 6 of last year’s NBA Finals.

Michigan State has found its new head football coach.
The Spartans have hired Mel Tucker as the new man to lead the program.
The news comes a week after Mark Dantonio sur- prisingly stepped down as Michigan State’s head coach a day after he was accused of NCAA violations.
Tucker, who was 5-7 last season as Colorado’s head coach, was one of the people Michigan State courted, but he declined their initial interest. The Spartans focused on Luke Fickell for the search, but he turned them down on Monday.

Of Offseason Program
Myles Garrett remains suspended stemming from the incident in which he hit Mason Rudolph over the head with a helmet last sea- son, but the Cleveland Browns star is on track to be reinstated in time for all off- season activities.
Garrett met with the NFL on Monday to discuss his reinstatement, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media re- ports that the defensive end is expected to get the green light from the league as long as he fulfilled all of his re- sponsibilities.
Garrett was suspended for the remainder of the 2019 season after he hit Rudolph over the head with a helmet

during Cleveland’s Week 11 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Garrett later said he was set off by Rudolph using a racial slur, though Rudolph has vehemently denied that.
