Deadline To Register To Vote Draws Near
The First Monthly Shuffleboard Competition Held

Earlier this month, the qualifying period for the City of Tampa election closed. A total of 32 candidates quali- fied to participate in the elec- tion.
The residents of the City will vote for a mayor and all seven (7) City Council posi- tions. Each ballot will include an open seat for mayor, three citywide City Council Seats, (Districts I, II, and III), and one district-specified District Seat.
The ballots will also in- clude 18 proposed amend- ments to the Tampa City Charter.
The City of Tampa Munic- ipal Election will take place on March 5th. Anyone who has not registered to vote must do so by Monday, February 4th. Those who have not registered will not be able to participate in the elec- tion.
Other Important Dates: January 29th --- Vote By Mail Ballots will be mailed. The Supervisor of Elections
Office will continue mailing ballots within two business days of receiving the requests. The last day that voters can request a Vote By Mail ballot is six days before the election. February 15th --- Sample bal- lots will be mailed to all eligi- ble voters who have not requested a mail ballot. February 25- March 3
Early voting will take place at seven (7) different loca- tions throughout the city. Voters can vote at any Early Voting site during the period. Voters also can drop off Vote By Mail ballots at Early Vot- ing sites when they’re open.
March 5th
Voting will take place at assigned polling places. Any- one who has not voted must report to their assigned loca- tions to cast a ballot. All mail ballots must be turned in by the voter. It must be dropped off at one of the four Supervi- sor of Elections offices no later than 7 p.m.

Last Friday, the first Monthly Shuffleboard Com- petition was held. It took place at Ragan Park Commu- nity Center.
The Center is also the lo- cation where domino players come to enjoy their competi- tion. During the evening, Micah Miller, of Health Matters Pharmacy and In- tegrity Insurance decided to make the tournament inclu- sive of the domino players as well.
Miller decided to include them in the tournament and celebration. The Shuffle- board players were very
happy to share their monthly event with the domino com- petition.
Steve Scott, Trainer and Director of the Shuffleboard Tournament said, “I really want to thank our sponsors, Micah Miller and Dr. Vondalyn Crawford, of Health Matters Pharmacy for not just sponsoring the games but also uplifting and putting a smile on our sen- iors face; they have been so faithful and so helpful for our community.”
The Shuffleboard Team, which consists of senior citi- zens from throughout Hills- borough County, participated in a champi- onship tournament each
month. The first and second place winners are awarded gift cards.
Anyone interested in learning to play shuffleboard can visit Ragan Park Com- munity Center, 1200 E. Lake Avenue. Scott teaches Shuf- fleboard on Mondays and Fridays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. He also teaches the game at Cyrus Greene Com- munity Center on Thursday, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Scott also holds training classes at Williams Park and Fair Oaks Community Cen- ters.
