   Well-Known Bodyguard And Businessman Dies
  NATHAN “KARATE MAC” McCALLA
 A well-known Tampa bodyguard and business- man died Friday following a brief illness. Mr. Nathan “Karate Mac” McCalla, was under hospice care.
According to a friend, Mr. McCalla was a native of Jamaica and came to Tampa as an adult. For sev- eral years, he owned and op- erated a karate school at the intersection of Nebraska Av- enue and Lake Avenue.
Having achieved the highest degree available in
karate, Mr. McCalla be- came known as “Karate Mac.” His friend further said that in addition to the karate school, Mr. Mc- Calla was known as the Bodyguard to the Stars.
The friend said he was known internationally by his reputation as a bodyguard.
Mr. McCalla is sur- vived by his mother, sib- lings, and children, among others.
Funeral services were in- complete at press time.
 Woman On Tracks Hit By Train
 An unidentified woman is recovering after being struck by a train. The acci- dent took place shortly be- fore 2 a.m., Friday.
The CSX train was travel- ing southbound on the tracks in the area of N. 29th Street and E. 31st Avenue.
The woman was report- edly standing next to the tracks and was reportedly waving at the train.
The conductor attempted to stop the train, which was traveling at approximately 15 m.p.h., at the time of the accident, but was unable to avoid making contact with the woman. A portion of the

Tampa General Hospital, withwhatwasbelievedtobe non-life threatening injuries.
Theinvestigationintothe accident is continuing.

  Emergency Operations Center Partially Activated
The Hillsborough County Emergency Operations Center (EOC), has been partially activated, out of an abundance of cau- tion. The Center is being activated in response to Hurricane Do- rian.
At this time, it is not known how the hurricane will impact Hillsborough County. A limited activation of the EOC allows the County and partner agencies to better monitor the storm track and coordinate resources and operations if necessary.
