    Hillsborough County Alumni Chapter B-CU Holds Legacy Luncheon
 The Hillsborough County Chapter, Bethune-Cookman University National Alumni As- sociation held its Legacy Lunch- eon on March 16, 2019. The event was held at the Sheraton- Tampa Brandon. Dr. Davina Jones served as chair, with the assistance of Andra Diggs, Co-Chair. The luncheon theme was, “We Are The Legacy – De- part To Serve.”
Comedian Rod Z (Roder- ick Zeigler, Class of 1994, of Orlando) and Gina Sanders were the program presiders. Music for the luncheon was provided by Zeb McKinnon
(Class of 1997) and Company. The keynote speakers were Wildcats who shared their jour- ney through B-CU into their
current professions.
Rev. Dr. Rayford Harper (Class of 1980) is the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church of West Tampa. He was accompanied by one of his 3 children, a daughter, who is a current student at B-CU.
Deacon Robert Scott, Jr. (Class of 1976) is a retired City of Tampa employee, who owns Scott’s Travel Agency. He spoke of the dedication and support of his parents, Doris
and the late Robert Scott, Sr., who inspired all their fam- ily to attend B-CU.
Tampa Dentist, Dr. Bruce Miles (Class of 1969) talked about his journey through B-CU to Howard University School of Dentistry, and how that B-CU foundation led to him becoming a success in his hometown.
Dr. Philetha Tucker Johnson (Class of 1982) is Pastor of Christ of Calvary Community Church and Direc- tor of the HOST Program at Sligh Middle School. The re- tired educator is President of the Tampa Bay Juneteenth
Coalition, and has received nu- merous awards.
Legend Awards were pre- sented to Molbert Scrivens (Class of 1968), James A. Mc- Carty, Sr. (Class of 1968) and Andra Diggs (Class of 1971).
The 2019 Community
Award was presented to Gwen Hayes, Editor, Florida Sen- tinel Bulletin.
