‘Lift Every Voice And March’
Hundreds converged on the parking lot of Allen Temple AME Church on Saturday, June 13, 2020. The purpose: to participate in a peaceful faith walk, protesting hatred, racism and injustice. The group walked from Allen Temple to the steps of City Hall where several persons spoke, before the event concluded with kneeling and singing, the Negro National Anthem, “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” (Photographs by Lomax McIntyre)
Rev. Karen Jackson Sims of Mt. Zion AME Church, Riverview, was one of the speakers.
This group of young people led the march with a banner recognizing Juneteenth.

Rev. Gregory Gay of Mt. Olive AME Church prepared for the walk down- town.
Among those captured here are: Henry “Shake” Washington, Gwen Myers and Bishop Thomas Scott.
Elders James and Willamena Johnson were among the march participants.
Colette Mobley, Regina Glenn and Kathy Henry were among those walking.
Gary Oliver, Jarrett Carr and Henry “Shake” Washington joined the walk.
Rev. Ricky Polk and Reverends Jackie and Kirk Bogen (St. Luke AME Church) showed their support by joining the march.
Eric Hill used his bike as his mode of transportation.
