Man Charged After Foreplay Turns Deadly
Federal Jury Convicts Man Of Armed Robbery
    A Valrico man was ar- rested Sunday in connection with a fatal shooting. The in- cident took place on last Sun- day afternoon.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, an unidentified woman in her 20s, was transported to Brandon Regional Hospital. She was suffering from a gunshot in the upper body when she arrived at the hos- pital. The woman later died as a result of her injuries.
Detectives launched an investigation into the shoot-
Last Friday, a Hillsbo- rough County judge refused to set a bond for a Tampa man. He is accused of killing his girlfriend.
After hearing testimony in the bond hearing, Hillsbor- ough Circuit Court Judge Frances Perrone denied bond for John James Mc- Queen. Judge Perrone deemed him a “danger to the community.”
McQueen is being held at the Hillsborough County jail on charges of first-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, and vio- lation of probation for do- mestic violence.
During the bond hearing, Detective Joe Flores testi- fied that McQueen con- fessed to killing 25-year-old Kelaina “KeKe” Adkins, the mother of four children, including a 3-month-old in which McQueen is the fa- ther.
Detective Flores stated that McQueen stated, “She was never going to leave me alone so I made sure that she

home on Grand Canyon Drive around 12:30 p.m.
Detectives interviewed 23-year-old Andrew Charles Shinault. During the interview, police learned that the woman had been shot with his registered handgun while they engaged in an act of foreplay.
Last Friday, detectives ar- rested Shinault and charged him with manslaughter. He was trans- ported to the Hillsborough County Jail and his bond was set at $50,000.

Last Friday, a federal jury convicted a man for his in- volvement in a string of armed robberies. The robberies took place at banks and retail stores.
After listening to testi- mony during a 7-day trial, the jury found Rashid Iman Turner, 32, of Fort Myers, guilty of one count of conspir- ing to interfere with interstate commerce by robbery, two counts of bank robbery, three counts of interference with in- terstate commerce by robbery, and three counts of brandish- ing a firearm during a crime of violence.
Turner is facing a mandatory minimum penalty of 21 years and up to life in federal prison. His sentencing date has been scheduled for August 20, 2019.
According to evidence pre- sented at trial, Turner and co-defendant Petrie Addi- son, forced entry into at least one retail store in Lehigh Acres shortly after closing time, held the employees at gunpoint, threatened to kill them and their families, forced them to open the safes, and stole the cash from the store.

In November 2017, Turner and Addison robbed a Wells Fargo Bank in Spring Hill. In December 2017, co-defendant Zachary Gloster joined the crew and they robbed Seacoast Banks in Arcadia and Port St. Lucie.
In each of the bank rob- beries, the defendants stormed through the bank’s front doors shortly after open- ing time, held the employees at gunpoint, looted the teller drawers, and fled less than two minutes later.
Addison, Gloster, and Lias pleaded guilty for their roles in this case prior to Turner’s trial.
They are currently await- ing sentencing.

However, State Attorney Ron Gale stated that Mc- Queen was on probation for a previous offense against

Ms. Adkins and that he committed the murder while on probation. Judge Per- rone agreed with Attorney Gale and denied bond.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the Charleston Landings Apart- ments, in Brandon, on May 21st after receiving a tip. When deputies arrived, they discovered the body of Ms. Adkins.
McQueen’s wife, Ms. Taneshia McQueen testi- fied that McQueen came to her and told her what he had done. She contacted the po- lice.
