Seven Injured During Shooting On Main Street
Man Sentenced On Drug Trafficking Charges
Tampa Police are investi- gating a shooting that left 7 people injured. The shooting took place early Saturday.
According to police, offi- cers were on foot patrol in the 2100 block of West Main Street, shortly after 1 a.m. The officers stated that the shoot- ing was coming from different locations.
During their investigation, the officers located 7 persons who had been struck by gun- fire.
The victims’ ages or condi-
tions were not available at press time. They have been identified as: Vincent Robi- son, Henry Osieba, Dan- dre Presley, Kiarra Reed, James Kendrick, Dukes Harris, and Kaleshia Dun- lop.
None of the victims had life-threatening injuries and all were treated at a local hos- pital.
Detectives said they could not locate any cooperating witnesses and the case is still being actively investigated.
A U. S. District Judge has sentence a Bradenton man to more than 10 years in prison. He pleaded guilty to the charges on December 13, 2017.
Last week, Judge Char- lene Honeywell handed down a sentence of 10 years and 5 months to Michael Bernard Code. Code pleaded guilty to possessing with the intent to distribute controlled substances.
According to court docu- ments, on June 15, 2017, the Drug Enforcement Adminis- tration (DEA) and the Mana- tee County Sheriff’s Office conducted surveillance of known drug trafficking in areas of Manatee County.
During one of the surveil- lances, police observed a white Buick sedan leaving a suspected drug house and determined that the regis- tered owner had a suspended driver’s license.
Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle continuing moving, but finally stopped.

searched for weapons. Dur- ing the search, a deputy lo- cated a pill bottle containing approximately 8.5 grams of a white substance. The sub- stance was field-tested and proved positive for cocaine.
Officers also recovered $237 from a fanny-pack strapped to Johnson’s waistband and another $207 from his pants pockets.
Shortly after running, Code returned to the vehicle and was detained. Witnesses told police they saw Code throw objects on the ground in two separate locations.
A search of the areas re- vealed a black magnetic type box containing: a digital scale, a plastic baggy con- taining Xanax pills, a plastic baggy containing approxi- mately 13.5 grams of sus- pected fentanyl, a plastic

baggy containing 13 smaller baggies with suspected fen- tanyl weighing approxi- mately 8.2 grams, and a third plastic baggy containing 26 individual small baggies with an off-white powdery sub- stance that weighed approxi- mately 5.7 grams.
The white substance field-tested positive for co- caine. The suspected fentanyl later tested positive in the lab for MDMA.
Code is alleged to have told law enforcement later that Johnson told him to run from the car and get rid of the objects. He also stated that he used narcotics and tested narcotics.
Johnson previously pleaded guilty to his role in the case. He sentencing date has been set for April 3, 2018.
Nurse Accused Of
Taking $15,000 From
Paralyzed Victim
A 33-year-old woman was arrested last week and charged with taking $15,000 from her patient. The victim is paralyzed and incapable of writing.
According to Tampa Po- lice, Ms. Chenae Lyndeal Baker was employed as a home health nurse by Pro Med Home Health Care. She also worked as an economic self-sufficiency specialist for the Department of Children and Families.
During several months in 2017, Ms. Baker is accused of using the victim’s credit cards on 28 separate occa- sions to make purchases through Square, an online credit card processing service. She is also accused of taking 14 blank checks from the vic- tim’s checkbook.
CHENAE LYNDEAL BAKER Ms. Baker was arrested
and charged with 26 counts of fraudulent use of a credit card over $100. She was also charged with 2 counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, and 1 count of exploita- tion of the elderly.
She was released from the Hillsborough County Jail after posting bond.

Accidentally
Shot In Head
A 20-year-old man was accidentally shot Sunday night. The shooting took place a 3220 Saffold Road, in Wimauma.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, there were about 15 people at the location when the victim was accidentally shot. A bul- let from a .45 caliber hand- gun accidentally discharged from a weapon struck the 20- year-old victim in the head. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was ad- mitted in critical, but stable condition, police said.
Police said the person who accidentally discharged the weapon may have been uploading it at the time.
Police did not release the name of the victim and said the shooting does not appear suspicious at this time. The investigation is continuing.
