Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter III' Surpasses One Billion Streams On Spotify
Young Thug To Make Acting
Lil Wayne may have dubbed himself the “Best Rapper Alive” during his hey- day, but recent news of the rapper’s Tha Carter III album surpassing one billion total streams on Spotify is concrete evidence of him being among the genre’s most accomplished artists.
The milestone comes just weeks after Weezy com- memorated the 13-year an- niversary of the album’s
release (June 10, 2008) with a post of its artwork on social media, with a caption cele- brating its success in what was a dismal musical market at the time. “Happy 13th to the project that really showed me my fans/supporters have love for me,” Wayne wrote. “We did ‘Amilli’ the first week in a time where sales were down because of piracy/boot- legging!!! For that I’ll forever be grateful!”

In response to rumors of legendary rapper Biz Markie’s passing, his publi- cist and close friends have denied those reports, how- ever, Biz remains in grave condition and under constant medical attention. “The news of Biz Markie’s passing is not true,” Jenni D. Izumi, his publicist, wrote in a state- ment. “Biz is still under med- ical care, surrounded by professionals who are work- ing hard to provide the best health care possible. Biz’s wife and family are touched by the outpouring of love and admiration from his friends,

peers, and fans alike. At this time, we ask for your contin- ued thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
In addition, various Juice Crew members have ad- dressed the rumors, with Craig G taking to Instagram to voice his refusal to release a statement, as well as his opinion on mainstream media covering the story. “If You Hardly See Me Doing In- terviews What Makes You Think You’ll Get A Statement Out Of Me,” the caption read. “Read It Aloud!! I KEEP FAMILY BUSINESS TO MY- SELF!!!”
LIL WAYNE
Young Thug is preparing to take his talents to the big screen. The artist has been cast alongside actress Tiffany Haddish and Sha- hadi Wright Joseph in the musical-inspired film Throw It Back. He’ll not only serve as executive producer but also oversee its accompanying soundtrack.
Billed as a “dance-filled mu- sical,” the film centers around protagonist Wytrell (played by Joseph), an unassuming high school senior that’s yet to build his own identity or separate himself from the pack. However, he gets the opportunity to make his pres- ence felt when a Miami rap- per taps Wytrell’s high school dance squad to appear in his next music video, prompting him to come out of his shell, as well as his com- fort zone, for the chance to fi- nally become known and viewed as more than a mere face in the crowd.

It was not specified what exact role Thugger was cast in for the film, but one thing we can ex- pect is a star-studded sound- track to go along with some grooves inspired by the bevy of HBCU marching bands surrounding the Atlanta na- tive’s stomping grounds.
Drake Reveals 'Certified Lover Boy' Is Complete And Will Be Mixed Soon
Drake promised fans they would get his sixth album Certified Lover Boy by the end of January. A knee sur- gery forced that back, and since then the rapper has been extremely tight-lipped about a new release date, only going as far as to say it would be out by summer’s end. And, as of now, at least, it seems he’ll make good on his promise.
Drake made a surprise ap- pearance on the Sirius show Fry Yiy Friday, where he slipped in a casual update about Certified Lover Boy. “You know Uncle Drake’s

on his way back home to mix
the album,” he said on the show, adding that there’s “a bunch of new tracks coming.” While there isn’t a timetable for the album’s mixing stage, fans can rest assured know- ing Certified Lover Boy is very close to arriving.
While the wait for Certified Lover Boy has been a pretty long one, at least Drake has been releasing new music. He recently teamed up with Brent Faiyaz for “Wasting Time,” which arrived after he lent verses to Migos and Nicki Minaj for their re- spective tracks “Havin My Way” and “Seeing Green”.
