4 New Bishops Named During 2021 General Conference
When the 51st Quadren- nial Session of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church met in Orlando last week, one of the items on the agenda was the election of new Bishops. The four new Bishops are:
Bishop Silvester Scott Beaman of Bethel AME Church of Wilmington, DE will serve the 15th Dis- trict which covers Western South Africa, Nambia and Angola. He delivered the benediction at President Joe Biden’s Inauguration.

Advocate Thabile M. Ngubeni is the first African lay person elected by the General Conference to hold any office.
Bishop Vashti M. McKenzie, the first female elected Bishop, is retiring. She was elected in 2000.
