Jordan Peele Hopes Oscar Win Inspires Young People
Director Antoine Fuqua In Talks About ‘Scarface’ Remake
Jordan Peele was the first Black in the Academy Awards 90-year history to win an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. His best friend, and comedic partner, Keegan-Michael Key reacts when his name was announced.
Director, Antoine Fuqua and Universal Pictures are back in conversations about Scarface, a new version of the classic outlaw tale.
They are in early talks for Fuqua to direct the film, and things are looking good as the negotiations get underway.
Originally dated August 10, 2018, Scarface is now un- dated as the pieces fall back into place.
Fuqua had been the di- rector when this third itera- tion of the picture first got off the ground, but exited when his schedule got crowded,
Antoine Fuqua declined to direct ‘Scarface’ initially due to scheduling.

The 39-year-old won the prize for his directorial debut "Get Out," becoming the first
Black person to triumph in the category, and confessed to reporters backstage that he almost didn't become a writer/director because there were so few African- American role models to in- spire him.
No one was prouder of
him than his old Key and Peele partner, Keegan- Michael Key.
Key and Peele were the creators of the aptly titled sketch comedy series that ran on Comedy Central for five seasons, from 2012 to 2015.
Nas Backed Tech Company ‘Ring’ Sells For Billions
Nas' early investment in a technology company has po- tentially earned the rapper mil- lions of dollars.
The rap star's Queensbridge Venture Partners was an early investor in Ring, which manu- factures WiFi cameras and doorbells.
Last week, Ring announced it had been acquired for $1 bil- lion by Amazon, creating a windfall for Nas" VC firm, which was among the earliest investors in the company.
In addition to Queensbridge Venture Partners, other in- vestors included Richard Branson and Upfront Ven- tures.
Over the past several years, Ring has gained traction in the
Nas invested in Ring for the outset. Now the company has been bought by Amazon.
market, scooping up over 2 million customers, while pulling down over $160 million dollars in revenue in 2016.
Viola And Lupita To Star In True Story Movie ‘The Woman King’
TriStar has acquired the rights to The Woman King, a story that’s inspired by true events set in West Africa. The film will star Academy Award winners Viola Davis and Lupita Nyong’o.
The film is a “powerful true story of an extraordinary mother-daughter relation- ship”.
According to Variety, Davis will play Nanisca, the general of an all-female mili- tary unit known as the Ama- zons. Her daughter Nawi will be portrayed by Nyong’o.

Nawi battled against the French and neighboring tribes who violated their honor, enslaved their peo- ple and threatened to destroy
everything they’ve lived for. These events took place in the Kingdom of Dahomey in Africa during the 18th and 19th centuries.
Laz Alonso To Star In Amazon Superhero Drama, ‘The Boys’
Laz Alonso (NBC’s The Mysteries of Laura) has been cast in Amazon’s straight-to- series drama The Boys.
The Boys is set in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their mas- sive celebrity and fame. It re- volves around a group of vigilantes known informally as “the boys,” who set out to take down corrupt super- heroes with no more than blue-collar grit and a willing- ness to fight dirty.

‘MasterChef Junior’ Contestant Now Cooks To Help Cope With Grief
Ben Watkins, 11-years- old from Gary, Indiana, un- derwent a terrible tragedy when he lost both of his par- ents to a murder-suicide just four days before his birthday last September. According to the Chicago Tribune, his fa- ther shot and murdered his mother moments before turn- ing the gun on himself.
Despite this unforeseen grief, Ben's community is fo- cusing on the silver lining. Ben who has a passion for cooking made his first na- tional television debut this past Friday on the 6th season of "MasterChef Junior,” where he will compete for the grand prize of $100,000.
The unthinkable tragedy, 11-year-old Ben Watkins from Gary, Indiana endured months after filming, he made his national tel- evision debut last Friday on "MasterChef Junior” hosted by Gor- don Ramsay.
For Ben, who has been get- ting creative in the kitchen since he was just 3-years-old, he says his appearance on the show is helping to fulfill a life- long passion for cooking .Be-
fore his parents' passing, Ben helped out at his family’s restaurant, which was even named after him — Big Ben’s Bodacious Barbecue, Bakery & Deli.
