A Special Dedication To ‘Mothers of Transitioned Daughters’
BY OLIVIA CARMICHAEL-BROWN
It was October 23, 2010, as I stood holding my daughter’s hand and blew softly into her face to help her take her last breath.
At 6:55 p. m., the numbers disappeared to “Zero.”I placed her hand gently to her side and said to those in the room, “This Is My Daughter.”
At that time, I did not know how profoundly I had spoken. However, God choose those words for me, for such a time as that. I presented my first born, Ronda Dee Carmichael Paramoure, back to Him.
“Mothers of Transitioned Daughters” collects all of the moments that mothers laughed together with their transitioned daughters.
In fact, my last Mother’s Day with Ronda was an evening out to dinner to see the play, ‘Mary Poppins.’ I did not see Mary flying above my head, but Ronda was laughing, so I looked up and Mary was over my head. It frightened me, yet Ronda continued to laugh until I began to laugh.
I encourage mothers to Col- lect Moments that you were most proud of in regards to your daughter; there typically are many such moments. I will share one of mine: years ago, on my birthday, Ronda gave me a CD of Phil Driscoll’s “I Exalt Thee;” it became my Joy and Peace.
A few years before Ronda’s transition, Mr. Driscoll came to our church to minis- ter. During his performance,

he must have noticed Ronda’s incredible flute min- istry because he called her to join him on the stage. I wanted to scream. I’ll never forget it; Ronda winkled her eye as she played with this man whose voice and trumpet brought such peace to me. Mr. Driscoll also noticed the wink.
I also encourage mothers to ‘Collect Moments’ when only you know your daughter di- rected you. One of my exam- ples is when I was shopping and noticed a shop that read Consignment. The antiques in the window drew me to go in by the Holy Spirit. As I browsed, I noticed a plastic bin with books. I picked up a few and was reminded that my grandson needed easy reading books, so I purchased three.
When I got home, I picked up one of the books and it read, “This book belongs to Ronda,” it was my baby’s handwriting. Praise God! I picked up the second book, which read, “This book be- longs to Ronda Dee.” I

shouted, cried, texted Ron (Ronda’s brother), who con- firmed it was Ronda’s hand- writing. Aria, Ronda’s sister, stood with her mouth open in awe. When I called Destin, Ronda’s son, to share it with the other sib- lings, he was in disbelief. Ronda must have been 6 or 7 when I purchased these books, which was more than 40 years ago.
“Mothers of Transitioned Daughters” must allow our Faith in God to move us to Trust in His Perfect Will (Psalm 138:8).
Our girls are always with us; they are a part of us. We NEVER lose the ones we love because they live in our HEARTS.
“We Are Never Alone”
In the very near future, you will be able to go to iTunes and purchase a special remixed version of the single “Never Alone” with Olivia and Ronda, written, produced and background vocals by Ron Carmichael, Ronda’s brother.
