South Carolina State Students Among Nation’s Best In Business Case Competition

Arrested 2 Years Later
Business students from South Carolina State Univer- sity placed second in a recent annual business case compe- tition held by the National Black MBA Association in Philadelphia last week.
Ariana Ruiz, a junior agribusiness major; Omari Richards, a senior manage- ment major; Nawal Bryant, a senior management major and Trevon Andrews, a junior agribusiness major moved SCSU up one spot from its inaugural appear- ance in last year’s competi- tion, and earned Richards an individual award for ‘best presenter’.
Indiana University won first place, Alabama State University achieved third place and Clark Atlanta Uni- versity took home fourth place.
Police in Alexandria, Vir- ginia, have arrested a regis- tered sex offender who allegedly threatened to mur- der students at Howard Uni- versity in an online post.
John Edgar Rust, 26, was arrested Wednesday after a two-year investigation into the threat. Court documents allege that on Nov. 15, 2015, Rust posted a note on web- sites Reddit and 4Chan sug- gesting he was planning to kill students the next day at the historically black univer- sity in Washington, D.C.
The post seems to have been tied in with protests against racial bias at the Uni- versity of Missouri.
During the investigation, authorities determined the IP Address that was associated with the person who wrote the post was assigned to a Panera Bread in Alexandria.
Investigators discovered Rust had used multiple de- vices at the restaurant at the

State University, St. Thomas University and Xavier Uni- versity. Alabama State Uni- versity and Clark Atlanta University finished in third and fourth place respectively out of 14 colleges and univer- sities competing from around the country.
