Real Devils
ome news stories don't
even shock me any- more. When I open up the paper and read about some of the horrible things human beings do to each other, in- stead of being overwhelmed with disbelief, these days I simply shake my head with a full understanding that heartlessness is the new nor- mal. Whatever faith I once had in humanity left the building a long time ago.
The most recent event that caught my attention was a story out of Jacksonville where two white, female, Navy corpsmen, working at the Navy Hospital, posted a video of themselves on Snapchat inappropriately playing with Black newborn babies inside of a maternity ward.
In the video, the women, Allyson Thompson and Joanie Barrett, are seen lifting an infant out of his carrier and making him move to the sound of music
(in this case 50 Cent's song In Da Club) as if he were rapping and dancing.
In another photo posted on the site, one of the women gives another baby the mid- dle finger and captions the picture: "HOW I CUR- RENTLY FEEL ABOUT THESE MINI SATANS."
After seeing the images I couldn't help but feel bad for the child being mistreated. Here was a young Black life that probably hadn't been on Earth for more than 48 hours, already being dispar- aged, demeaned and ex- ploited for the amusement of white folks.
The entire scene re- minded me of what it must have been like for Black peo- ple during the days of slavery when our bodies and the bodies of our children were not our own. I imagine that back then, when Africans were viewed as 3/5 of a per- son, Black babies received the same kind of treatment.
They were fondled, petted and, in some cases after boredom set in, discarded much like an unwanted toy or puppy. If what these women were doing is any in- dication of the current men- tality in 2017, it seems as though not much has changed.
The most disturbing as- pect of this controversy is the possibility that this kind of thing could be going on in- side of hospitals across the country. These two idiots were stupid enough to docu- ment their bad behavior. It makes you wonder what oth- ers, who may not be as clue- less, could be doing when they believe they're not being monitored?
The irony of it all is that these women had nerve to refer to the infants as "mini Satans." But, the fact of the matter is that, their actions couldn't have been more devilish.

Pam Bondi Bans O. J. Simpson?
hat’s State Attorney Pam Bondi. With 26,000 reg-
istered sex offenders running loose in Florida, who does our State Attorney opt to keep from living in Florida? You guessed it correctly, O. J. Simpson.
Add to that, with more than 300 (NBC2 Investiga- tion and WKMG) paroled convicted murderers living in Central and Southeastern Florida at this moment and right next door to law abiding citizens, who does Pam Bondi pick to keep from having a Florida zip code? You guessed right, again: Orenthal J. Simpson.
Understand, while Simpson has yet to be convicted as a sex offender or a murderer, such seems not to mat- ter to Bondi, who simply seems to have a fixation to focus on the former NFL great and film star as a danger to Florida citizens on the level of Beelzebub himself. Could his complexion and that his former wife was white also cause Pam’s conflict?
Meanwhile, the Florida Legislature’s 2016 study of sex offenders in Florida has found that there has been a 44% increase in the number of offenders over the past 10 years. Furthermore, many Florida police and sher- iff’s offices have dozens of people on staff who do noth- ing but register and track sex offenders. In addition, there are more than 1,600 sex offenders and predators living in Pinellas County now. Not one of them is named O. J. Simpson.
When considering convicted first-degree murderers living in the state of Florida, the Bay Area has its share, some of whom are police killers. Since all of these crim- inals are already living here, along with the ones in jail or prison, why pick on someone who obviously has paid his debt to society?
We suggest Pam Bondi reconsider her fixation on Simpson’s evil by giving him the Constitutional right guaranteed to all Americans who wear the title “former inmate.”
The court of public opinion holds no power.
