Man Shot Several Times In Critical Condition
Men Face Kidnapping Charges

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reports that last Wednesday, two men were ar- rested after a 32-year-old woman called to say she was being held for a $200 ransom.
Miguel Angel Quijada, 29, and Vidal Joseph Quijada, Jr., 36, are facing charges of kidnapping and false imprison- ment.
Deputies said Andrea King, 32, called and said she was being held against her will and gave them the location. Detec- tives responded to 5813 Miley Road in Plant City and found King and the Quijada broth-
ers. Witnesses told deputies King’s allegations were true.
Man Tries To Drive Off With Officers Hand In Window

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported that a suspect in the theft of a wallet was arrested after he showed his identifica- tion to a clerk when he used a stolen credit card to buy a cigar.
The wallet was reported stolen August 27th from the Royal Palm Bay Condos in Poin- ciana. A few days later, the vic- tim told authorities her card had been used at a Walmart on Cy- press Parkway.
Deputies reviewed security video and spoke with the clerk who told them Quontavius Heggs, 18, bought a cigar and other items with the card. She had asked to see his identifica- tion to prove he was old enough to buy tobacco, and when he showed her his ID, she entered his birth date into the system.
Deputies confirmed Heggs’ identification and discovered he was already in custody in an- other theft case. They also said he had pawned some stolen items.
Heggs now is facing charges of burglary, theft, fraud, dealing in stolen property, false verifica- tion to a pawn broker and viola- tion of probation.
Suspect In Stabbing Death Released After Posting $200,000 Bail
On Saturday at 3:35 a.m., Tampa Police were called to 3307 East North Bay on a re- port of a shooting.
When units arrived, officers came into contact with Devon L. Davis, 31, who had sus- tained several gunshot wounds.
Davis was transported to a local hospital and reported to be in critical condition by po- lice.
Officers in the area at- tempted to locate the suspects involved in the shooting but weren’t successful.
The suspects are described as Black males, one in his late teens to early 20s with shoul- der length dreadlocks, and the other with a low fade haircut.

Detectives are still working to identify the suspects and estab- lish a motive for the shooting.

On Thursday, the 23-year-old man accused of stabbing two former University of South Florida football players, one of them fatally, was released after posting a bail of $200,000.
Randolph Graham is fac- ing charges of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of 23-year-old Elkino Watson, and attempted murder in the stabbing of Desmond Horne.
The incidents took place dur- ing a fight outside of the Or- pheum Club in Ybor City, where a group of USF students and athletes had gathered fol- lowing their season opening win over the Florida A&M Rat- tlers.

Graham turned himself in to police Wednesday night, and his bail on the murder charge was set at $125,000 and $75,000 in Horne’s stabbing.
Tampa Police said as Club Orpheum was closing, a fight broke out between two groups in the parking lot at 1915 East 7th Avenue. Police said Wat- son was trying to break up a fight between Horne and an- other man when Graham al- legedly stabbed them.
Graham was seen in a secu- rity video leaving the area after the stabbings, and he was seen in a photo taken from the video that was made available to the media.
Tampa Teenager Arrested In St. Petersburg Carjacking Hit-And-Run
St. Petersburg Police ar- rested the suspect who crashed his car, fled on foot, then car- jacked a car from a person who tried to help him.
According to reports, Alon- zo Brown, 18, of Tampa, was arrested Friday after he was seen in the area of 9th Avenue, South and 15th Street.
Officers said Brown was speeding in a Toyota Camry south on 4th Street September 4th when he struck a car as it was exiting onto 4th Street from 110th Avenue, North.
Officers said Brown tried to flee, but could not climb over a fence. When a passing motorist saw Brown bleeding from the head and asked if he needed help, Brown reportedly dis- played a gun in his waistband, jumped in the car and de- manded to be driven away, po- lice said.

drove Brown near Bel-Air Apartments, 1200 102nd Av- enue, North, where he fled into the complex. The carjacking victim called police from an- other location. Brown is now facing charges of armed carjacking, leaving the scene of an accident involving serious injury, and driving on a sus- pended license involving seri- ous injury.
Inmate Accused Of Using Bed Sheet To Strangle Cellmate

Last Tuesday, a Polk County inmate was charged with first- degree murder after authorities said he used bed sheets to strangle his cellmate.
According to authorities, Javier Medina told guards at the South County Jail in Frost- proof that he was battered by one of his roommates. Guards moved him to another cell and when they returned, said they found inmate Joseph Dawes,

35, on the bottom bunk with a sheet wrapped round his neck. Dawes died at a hospital.
Medina, 44, reportedly told deputies he was set up and said the sheet was already hanging when he entered the cell. After being interviewed by authori- ties, they reported that Med- ina put his head in the toilet and tried to drown himself and also jumped and tried to fall on his head.
