Commissioners Seek Applications For Citizen Boards And Councils
Foundation Donates $22,500 For Pre-School Education
The Hillsborough County Commissioners are seeking residents to serve on several County citizen advisory boards and councils. Resi- dents interested in seeking appointment must be regis- tered voters in Hillsborough County.
Applicants must submit a completed Questionnaire for County Appointments and a Standards of Conduct form.
The deadline to apply is Sept. 24, 2015. Appoint- ments will be scheduled for a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners in October or November 2015.
The boards are as follows:
Affordable Housing Advisory Board: Three po- sitions are vacant and two terms are expiring. Terms are for three years. Meetings are held every other month, first Monday, 9 a.m.
Anti-Bullying Advi- sory Committee: One posi- tion is vacant due to resignation. Position is for the remainder of the term, which expires Jan. 31, 2017. Position is as an at-large member. The meetings are held every other month, fourth Thursday, 10 a.m.
Building Board Of Ad- justment, Appeals & Ex- aminers: One position is vacant due to resignation. Po- sition is for the remainder of term which, expires June 30, 2016. The meetings take place monthly, the third Tuesday, 9 a.m.
Child Care Facilities Advisory Board: One posi- tion is vacant. Term is for three years. The board meets monthly, first Thursday, 1 p.m.
Code Enforcement Board: One position is va- cant. Term is for three years. Meetings are monthly, gener- ally third or fourth Friday, 9 a.m.
Electrical Board Of Adjustment, Appeals And Examiners: One position is vacant. Term is for four years. Meetings held quar- terly, third Thursday, 9 a.m.
Family Child Care Home Advisory Board: Three positions are vacant, one due to resignation. Two terms are for three years. One position is for remainder of term, which expires Dec. 31, 2016. Meetings held quar- terly, third Thursday, 7 p.m.
Health Care Advisory Board: Three terms are ex- piring. Terms are for four years. Meetings held monthly, third Thursday, 3 p.m.
Health Council Of West Central Florida, Inc.: One position is vacant and two terms are expiring. Terms are for two years. Meetings held the second Thursday, every other month, 3:30 p.m., in rotating counties of the five county planning district.
Historic Preservation Challenge Grant Pro- gram Grant Review Com- mittee: One position is vacant due to resignation. Position is for the remainder of term which expires March 31, 2016. Meetings To be de- termined.
Historic Resources Review Board: One posi- tion is vacant. Term is for three years. Meetings monthly, third Tuesday, 3 p.m.
Human Relations Board: Three positions are vacant due to resignation. Terms are for three years. Meetings monthly, second Tuesday, Noon.
Planning Commis- sion: Two terms expiring. Terms are for four years. Meetings held monthly, sec- ond Monday, 2 p.m.
Public Library Board:
One position is vacant due to resignation. Position is for the remainder of term, which expires June 30, 2017. Meet- ings monthly, fourth Thurs- day, 4 p.m.

Recently, the AT&T Foun- dation, a national corpora- tion, donated funding earmarked for education. The funding was presented to the united Way is designated to provide assistance to pre- school children in Tampa.
So far this year, the AT&T Foundation has donated $5.17 million to 550 local United Way organizations across the country. The $22,500 contribution to United Way Suncoast was donated to support A Brighter Community. Funding will also provide as- sistance to agencies in DeS-
oto, Hillsborough Pinellas, and Sarasota Counties.
Other programs the United Way has provided as- sistance in includes helping youth and their families, summer literacy resources, helping high school students prepare college through Op- eration Graduate, helping adults with career choices such as starting a business, creating a budget for home ownership, and employabil- ity skills.

focus areas of our strategic plan to break the cycle of generational poverty, while connecting people, creating change, and impacting lives to make it all happen.
