Accident
A 19-year-old woman died Thursday evening after being involved in a 4-car accident. The accident took place on I- 75 at the 272 Mile Marker.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident took place shortly after 6 p.m. The five drivers were Pedro Martinez-Fernandez, 39, of Live Oak; Ms. Nadia An- derson, 19, of Spring Hill; Ms. Pamela Wolfgang, 47, of New Port Rickey; Ms. Michelle McFee, 46, of Land O’ Lakes, and Jonathan Kushner, 31, of Lutz.
Police said Martinez- Fernandez was driving a 1998 Semi tractor trailer northbound in the outside lane of I-75. Ms. Anderson, Ms. Wolfgang, Ms. McFee, and Kushner were all stopped because of traffic
ahead on I-75. Martinez-Fer- nandez failed to observe that traffic was stopped and col- lided with Ms. Anderson’s vehicle, causing a chain reac- tion.
Martinez-Fernandez
then continued northbound across all northbound lanes and came to rest in the inside median. Ms. Anderson died at the scene as a result of her injuries.
Ms. Wolfgang suffered minor injuries and was trans- ported to a hospital in Wesley chapel. Ms. McFee, Kush- ner, and Martinez-Fer- nandez were not injured. The investigation is continu- ing and charges are pending, police said.
The northbound lanes of I-75 were closed for more than 5 hours during the in- vestigation.
