A Plant City police officer has been placed on adminis- trative leave after he shot a man early Saturday morning. The officer said he shot in fear of his life after the suspect pointed a gun at him.
The incident began when officers responded to the in- tersection of North Alexander Street and W. Reynolds Street, around 1 a.m. The offi- cers had been called to the scene in reference to a large hostile crowd at the McDon- ald’s Restaurant.

round in the immediate direc- tion of the officers. After firing the weapon, the man report- edly fled the scene in a white 4-door sedan, and officer ini- tiated a pursuit. The suspect
was unable to negotiate a turn and ran into a dental office.
After colliding with the building, the suspect at- tempted to run away on foot. However, a second officer ar- rived at the scene.
The man is said to have pointed his gun at the officer in a threatening manner. Sgt. James Burchett discharged his service weapon and in- jured the suspect.
The man, identified as Isaac Macher Thomas, 24, of Winter Haven, was trans- ported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are investigating an accidental shooting that left a 4-year-old dead. The incident took place in Auburndale.
According to police, the child identified as Avion Weaver, found a loaded 9 mm handgun in his home and shot himself in the face. He died at Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Or- lando. The gun belonged to Demeko Robinson. Robinson, 26, could be charged in the incident be- cause the gun was not se- cured. If arrested, Robinson faces up to five years in prison for culpable negli- gence, police said.

the child’s mother’s boyfriend. The State Attor- ney’s Office will determine if Robinson will be charged following the completion of their investigation.
Crime Stoppers Offering Reward For Robbery Suspect
Business Owner Charged With Selling Spice
Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of a man wanted for robbing a convenience store twice.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigat- ing the robberies that took place 9 days apart.
In the first case, the robbery took place on January 9th, at approximately 2:50 a.m. The suspect forced the Speedway Clerk back into the store at 13179 Highway 301, in Riverview. Once inside, he demanded money and the clerk complied. The suspect then fled the store on foot.
On January 18th, at 2:44 a.m., the suspect entered the

same store and demanded money from the registers. The clerk complied and the suspect fled the scene on foot.
The suspect, armed with a black handgun, is described as a Black man with a thin build. In both robberies, the suspect covered his face and

wore an American Eagle gray hooded sweatshirt and tan pants.

Police arrested the owner of a Riverview business last week and charged him with delivery of a controlled sub- stance and possession of a controlled substance.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, detectives executed a search warrant at Mary’s Beverage Castle, 4901 U. S. Highway 301, on Thursday.
The search warrant was obtained after undercover of- ficers allegedly purchased syn- thetic cannabinold (spice) on two separate occasions.
As a result of the search warrant, investigators seized

41 packs of the drug and other drug paraphernalia.. The owner, identified as Hasan Kaabneh, 50, was taken into custody.

Man Arrested For Sexual Battery On A Minor

The Pinellas Park detec- tives have arrested a 44-year- old man and charged him with sexual battery on a minor. The victim, a female, was between the ages of 14 and 18 when the offense occurred.
According to police, the in- cidents took place between 2011 and 2014, and at various locations in Pinellas County.
Detectives said the investi- gation began in December 2016, after the victim told them the suspect, identified as Larry R. Bourdon, began having inappropriate sexual activity with her when she was 14-years-old.

The Tampa Police are cur- rently searching for a suspect in an attempted sexual bat- tery case.
The incident took place in the area of N. 30th Street and E. Bougainvillea.
The suspect is described as a Black man, approximately 35 years of age. He has a mus- cular build and a dark com- plexion. He is approximately 5’10” to 6’ tall and was last seen wearing an olive colored tee shirt and dark athletic shorts.
