Reserve Airman Graduates From Basic Training
Two Tampa Natives Assigned To Naval Construction Battalion
A Tampa resident has com- pleted all requirements and graduated from the U. S. Air Force as a member of the Re- serve Unit. Reserve Air- man 1st Class Francisco W. Maldonado participated in his graduation ceremony at the Joint Base San Antonio- Lackland, in San Antonio, Texas.
Reserve Airman 1st Class Maldonado com- pleted an intensive, eight- week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
At the completion of the training, he earned four cred- its toward an Associate in Ap- plied Science Degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
RESERVE AIRMAN 1ST CLASS FRANCISCO W. MALDONADO
Reserve Airman 1st Class Maldonado is the son of Juana Gonzalez, of Tampa, and the brother of Orlando Maldonado Jr.
He graduated from Robin- son High School in 2015.
Two sailors with who are natives of Hillsborough County, are currently sta- tioned at Port Hueneme, in California. The sailors are as- signed to the U. S. Naval S Constructi9on Force known as the “Seabees.”
Petty Officer 2nd Class Juan Gonzalez is a native of Riverview. He graduated from from East Bay High School and currently serves as a builder in the Navy.
“I’m a carpenter in the Navy and work construction with the Seabees. It’s a small community, so you get to see some of the same people and familiar faces. You also get to keep up with your mentors,” he said.
Petty Officer 1st Class Wayne Hancock is a native of Plant City, and currently serves as a Logistics Special- ist in the Navy.
“As a Logistics Specialist, I’m responsible for the finan- cial aspects of the battalion. My job is essential because if we don’t have the funds to support the mission, we won’t be able to ensure mis- sion accomplishment.”
This year, the Seabees will host a year-long celebration

in honor of its 75th Anniver- sary. The theme of the cele- bration is “Built On History, Constructing the Future.”
Working under the motto of “We Build, We Fight,” the sailors assigned to the Seabees complete jobs that have remained unchanged since World War II, when the organization paved the 10,000-mile road to victory for the allies in the Pacific and in Europe.
They have served in all American conflicts and have

supported humanitarian ef- forts using their construction skills to help communities around the world following earthquakes, hurricanes and other natural disasters.
Rear Admiral Bret Muilenburg, Commander, Naval Facilities Command said, “I am proud of the hard work that Seabees do every day. Their support to the navy and Marine Corps mis- sion is immeasurable, and we look forward to the next seven decades of service.”
Cast Your Vote For The City Of Tampa Recycling Truck Art

The City of Tampa’s Depart- ment of Solid Waste and Envi- ronmental Program Management invites you to cast your vote for the 2016 3R’s Art Contest Winner. The 11th an- nual 3R’s Art Contest is de- signed to engage the City of Tampa’s youth in recycling.
The contest is another out- reach priority of the Depart- ment to engage and educate Tampa’s residents on the im- portance of recycling. Follow- ing the recycling education program, students create art with a goal of conveying a mes- sage about recycling right!
Residents can visit the De- partment website at www.tam- pagov.net/solidwaste to view selected artwork and vote for
their favorite submissions. Voters can cast their votes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place win- ner for each grade level; ele- mentary, middle and high. Contest voting will be open until January 31st, 2017.
The first place winning art design for each grade level will be displayed on a City of Tampa recycling truck for one year. Cast your vote to help recognize the talented youth in the City of Tampa.

Citizens Review Board To Host Meeting
Members of the Citizens Review Board will host a meeting on Tuesday, January 24th. The meeting will take place at Old City Hall, 315 E. Kennedy Blvd., on the 3rd floor, at 6 p.m.
The Professional Standards Internal Affairs concluded an investigation that will be discussed during the regular monthly Citizen Review Board (CRB) meeting.
This is a comprehensive report so the presenting Detective will present an all-inclusive case presentation. This review of Internal Affairs Investigation is of discharged firearms.
The public is invited to attend and public comments are al- lowed during the first part of the meeting.
