First Annual Founder’s Day Program At New Progress M. B. Church
New Progress MB Church celebrated their first annual Founder’s Day. Pastor Maurice D. Taylor established this day in honor of the late Rev. Earlie J. Williams, Sr., on Sunday, November 10, 2019.
Rev. Earlie J. Williams pastored New Progress MB Church for 56 years. The church was organized in 1960 by Rev. E. J. Williams and nine others in the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Oscar and Mozella Jackson, who resided in Progress Village.
Two of the original members are still members at New Progress, First Lady Emeritus Janice Williams and Sister Ruth Magwood. Elder Tony Parker of St. John Cathedral, who has been a part of this church family for many years, was the guest speaker. (Photographs by Ricky Roberts)
