Driver Charged In Accident With Semi Truck
The Florida Highway Patrol cited an Orlando man involved in an acci- dent with a semi. The ac- cident took place Monday morning.
According to police,

tinez, 19, of Orlando,
entered I-4 from State
Road 39, driving a 2000
Isuzu SUV, eastbound on the entrance ramp.
Police said Martinez failed to yield for a semi tractor trailer driven by 40-year-old Demetrias Dwight Gray, of Brandon.
Upon impact, the two vehicles collided and Gray lost control of the tractor trailer. It jackknifed and collided with an outside guardrail. Both vehicles came to rest on the shoulder of the entrance ramp.
Neither of the drivers reported any injury.
The tractor trailer was carrying diesel fuel and about 200 gallons spilled onto the roadway.
Martinez was cited for violation of right-of-way.
Accident Leaves 2 Siblings Dead, 1 Critical
EDILBERTO NAVA-MARCOS FRINZI SALGADO-DIAZ PEPE SALGADO
A traffic accident last Thursday left two teenagers dead and another in critical condition. The accident took place on State Road 39 and Trapnell Road.
According to police, Edil-
berto Nava-Marcos, 18, of Mulberry, was dr1ving a 2002 Toyota Corolla north- bound on State Road 39.
His passengers were 18- year-old Pepe Salgado and his 15-year-old sister, Frinzi Salgado-Diaz. All three of the teenagers were from Mul- berry.
Police said Nava-Mar- cos made a left turn into the path of a 2015 Honda Civic, driven by Ms. Danisia Fontanez, of Plant City.
After the collision, Ms. Fontanez’s vehicle rotated and collided with a third ve- hicle stopped at the traffic light. The 2006 Ford Freestar was driven by Ms. Alma Reyes, 31, of Plant City.
Edilberto Nava-Mar- cos was transported to Lake- land Regional Medical
Center, where he was admit- ted in critical condition. Pepe Salgado and his sis- ter, Frinzi Salgado died as a result of their injuries.
All three teenagers were students at Mulberry High School. Nava-Marcos was to participate in his gradua- tion ceremony later that evening.
The passengers in Ms. Fontanez’s vehicle were identified as Ms. Natalie Ortiz, 25, Gabriel Fontanez, 10, and 7-year- old Jeremiah Fontanez, all of Plant City. The children received minor injuries.
Ms. Reyes’ passengers were Omar Mundo, 6, and Erika Mundo, 9, all of Plant City. None of them reported any injuries.
2 Adults, 6 Children Injured After Truck Overturns
Eight people were taken to a local hospital after being injured in a traffic accident. The ac- cident occurred Saturday afternoon.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Keith Odell Carson, 29, of Tampa, was driv- ing eastbound on Interstate 4 east of State Road 574, in the outside lane.
Investigators said that for undetermined reasons, shortly before 4 p.m., Carson lost con- trol of the vehicle. The 2009 Chevrolet Subur- ban left the roadway and flipped over on the shoulder of the road. The truck then collided with a chain-linked fence. It was also towing a
trailer that overturned as well.
Carson received minor injuries. However,
8 passengers in the vehicle were seriously in- jured. All nine individuals were transported to Tampa General Hospital.
The passengers were: Natasha Binion, 26; Darius Carson, 10; Zoula Carson, 8; Mariah Carson, 6; Harmony Carson, 4; Jeremiah Carson, 2; Lyrick and Messiah Carson, both 1 year of age.
The investigation into the cause of the acci- dent is continuing and charges are pending, po- lice said.
Deer Blamed For Accident That Leaves Man ‘Critical’
The Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of a 1997 BMW 318ts became involved in a single car accident early Friday. The ac- cident took place on State Road 674, east of County Road 39.
According to police, Dalton Lang Storie, 26, of Bartow, was traveling eastbound on State Road 674. He observed several deer in his path and swerved to avoid hitting them.
Police said Storie over cor- rected and lost control of the ve- hicle. It rotated and struck several trees along the north tree line be- fore coming to a final rest.
Storie and one of his passen- gers, Raven Uriah Walters, 25, of Bartow, received minor injuries and were treated at the scene. However, Eric Gregory Swill- ing, 25, of Winter Haven, was listed in critical condition. He was airlifted to Tampa General Hospi- tal.
Storie was charged with driv- ing with a suspended license and not having insurance.
