Two Enlistees With Ties To Bay Area Complete Military Training
Bay Area Soldier Assigned To Naval Aircraft
NORFOLK, VA --- Petty Officer 3rd Class Jonathan Fletcher is currently serves with Carrier airborne Early Warning Squadron, (VAW) 121. In his role as a member of the “Bluetails,” Officer Fletcher, of Parrish, Florida is responsible for keeping watch over the skies and oceans of the world. The U. S. Navy Squadron flies one of the Navy’s Most advanced aircraft.
Fletcher works as an Avia- tion Electronics Technician, which is responsible for trou- bleshooting and repairing equipment and employing the latest test equipment and pro- cedures.
The Hawkeye is a carrier- based aircraft, taking off from and landing on Navy aircraft carriers at sea. Using powerful radar and an array of advanced sensors, the twin-turboprop aircraft and its crew of five can remain in the air for hours, scanning the skies, detecting potential airborne and surface

Two military enlistees with ties to the Tampa Bay Area were among the recent graduates from basic military training. U. S. Air Force Air- man Zydajah Roberts and Nicholas K. Roddy partic- ipated in their respective graduation ceremonies at the Joint Base San Antonio- Lackland, in San Antonio, Texas.
They airmen completed an intensive, eight-week pro- gram that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
They also earned four credits toward an Associate in Applied Science Degree through the Community Col-

lege of the Air Force. Airman Roberts is the
daughter of Ukeia S. Carter, of Yigo, Guam, Jim- mie A. Roberts, of Dallas, Texas, and stepdaughter of Stephen T. Carter, of Yigo, Guam. She is also the grand- daughter of George and Flora L. Berhon, of Tampa.

Airman Roddy is the son of Helmet and Alison Roddy, of Newton Hamil- ton, PA, and the brother of Delaney Roddy, of Tampa. He graduated from Mount Union Area High School, in Mount Union, PA, in 2016.

Reserve Airman 1st Class Heaven Henderson, Airman Cliffton J. Mur- ray, Airman 1st Class Martin J. Moran, Airman Michael D. Pierce, Air- man 1st Class Alexander L. Vega and Airman Jor- dan Waldo participated in their respective graduation ceremonies after completing basic military training. The graduations were held at the Joint Base San Antonio-Lack- land, in San Antonio, Texas.

Class Henderson is the son of Brian and Deborah Henderson, of Tampa. He is the grandson of Alwynn Henderson, of Bowie, MD.

Airman Murray gradu- ated from Florida Virtual School in 2016.
Airman Moran, who earned distinction as an honor graduate, is the son of Dennis Moran, of Robin- son, Texas, and Susan Crawford, of Clarksville, TN. He is the stepson of James Crawford, of Clarksville, TN, and June Moran, of Robinson, Texas. He is married to Kathryn Moran, of Tampa.

Airman Pierce is the son of Lawrence Pierce, of Van Buren, MO, and Christine Pierce, of Sun City Center. He is the brother of Jonathon Pierce, of Tampa. Airman Pierce graduated from New Prairie High School, in New Carlisle, Indiana, in 2008.
Airman Vega is the son of Richard D. Vega, of Tampa. He graduated from Robinson High School in 2009. He earned a Bachelor's degree in 2015 from the Uni- versity of South Florida, St. Petersburg.
Airman Waldo is the son of Charity Pitts, of Tampa, and Jeremy Waldo, of Plant City. He is the hus- band of Katherine Waldo, of Tampa. He graduated from Spoto High School in 2014.
