Man Found On Side Of Street Dies
Rabies Alert Issued For Hillsborough County
On Sunday evening, an unidentified man was discov- ered on the side of the street. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, the man, whose name has not been released, was dis- covered shortly after 5 p.m., in the 14,300 block of Lucerne Drive. At the time he
was discovered, the man suf- fered from an undisclosed type of trauma.
He was transported to Florida Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
A spokesperson for the Hillsborough County Sher- iff’s Office said, detectives are conducting a death inves- tigation. No additional infor- mation was available at press time.
The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County (DOH-Hillsborough), has confirmed that a stray cat has tested positive for rabies. The organization has issued a rabies alert for the next 60 days.
The cat was located near the 4500 block of W. Knoll- wood Street, in Tampa 33614. Following an investigation, DOH-Hillsborough can con- firm that three people were
exposed on Tuesday, August 21. They are all receiving treatment.
The attack was unpro- voked and the three victims are related. It is not known if others had contact with the cat. The boundaries where the attack took place are: North, Waters Avenue; South, Hills- borough Avenue; East, Dale Mabry Highway; and West, Veterans Expressway.
In 2018, Hillsborough
County has identified eight rabid animals (five cats, two bats and one raccoon) that ex- posed 18 people and four do- mestic dogs to the disease.
