Motorcyclist Dies In Traffic Accident
RUTH SANCHEZ-ARIAS
A 54-year-old man died in a traffic accident Sunday night. The accident took place at Bearss Avenue and I-275.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Ms. Ruth Sanchez-Arias, 35, of Tampa, was traveling east- bound on Bearss Avenue. Brian William Lester, of Tampa, was driving his 2018 Honda Motorcycle westbound on Bearss Avenue.
Ms. Sanchez-Arias re- portedly failed to stop for the traffic light and her 2005 Jeep struck the motorcycle. Upon impact, her vehicle continued in a southeast direction and struck the overpass support.
Lester suffered life-threat- ening injuries and died at the scene.
Ms. Sanchez-Arias was arrested and charged with not having a valid driver’s license, police said.

Man Found Injured After Shooting
RODRICKLES BOGGAN
The Lakeland Police De- partment is investigating a shooting that took place Fri- day. It occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m.
According to police, offi- cers responded to 2546 Chest- nut Woods Drive in reference to a shooting. When they ar- rived, they found 36-year-old Rodrickles Boggan lying on the ground. They determined that Boggan had been shot in both legs.
He was transported to a local hospital, and expected to survive. The investigation is continuing.
Man Dies, Passenger Critical In Single Car Accident
A 21-year-old man died and his passenger was criti- cally injured in a traffic acci- dent.
The accident took place on Highway 60 near Old Hopewell Road, early Thurs- day.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, Gabriel Wyatt, of Lake- land, was driving a 2007 Audi northbound on Old Hopewell Road. As he ap-
proached Highway 60, he failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway. His vehicle left the road and struck a tree and came to rest on the dri- ver’s side.
Wyatt was pronounced dead at the scene. His pas- senger, Ms. Morgan Williams, 20, of Piedmont, South Carolina, was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital. She was listed in critical con- dition.
Driver Seriously Injured In Crash With Semi
A 53-year-old Plant City resident was seriously injured in an accident Tuesday evening. The accident took place on U. S. 92, east of Park Road, shortly before 6:30 p.m.
An investigator for the Florida Highway Patrol said Raymond D. Shipley was driving his 1998 Chevrolet Pickup truck westbound on U. S. Highway 92. Wayne D. Newton, 64, of Auburndale, was driving a 2016 Semi trac-
tor-trailer.
Police said traffic sud-
denly came to a stop and Shipley took evasive action and entered the eastbound lane of U. S. Highway 92. In doing so, the right side of his vehicle struck the front of the semi. Both vehicles rotated and came to rest on the shoulder of the road.
Officials said Shipley will be cited for failure to drive within a single lane. The in- vestigation is continuing.
