Miss Teenage Tampa Pageant Slated For April 17th
Rebekah Harper, Zoya Whitehead, Anestasia Dye, Cheyene Bruner, Beautyful Copeland, Phylicity Walters, reigning Miss Teenage Tampa; Tori Brown, Jayla Wilkes, Jennifer Skinner, Tatiyana Gardner, and Brianna Blake.
Pageant season has begun! Gamma Theta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Soror- ity, Inc. has begun its annual Miss Teenage Tampa Pageant season. The pageant show- cases ten African American high school girls from Hills- borough County.
These young ladies engage in a variety of personal devel-
opment workshops, commu- nity service projects and cul- tural enrichment activities in preparation for the pageant. Each contestant will compete for the coveted Miss Teenage Tampa title by exhibiting a tal- ent, demonstrating their ex- temporaneous speaking skills and displaying poise and deco- rum.
The contestants were un- veiled during the pageant kick-off with sorority mem- bers, contestant parents and the community in attendance. The reigning Miss Teenage Tampa, Phylisity Walters, encouraged the contestants to take advantage of the relation- ships they will form and to re- member they are representing
the best of African American girls in all that they say and do. The 2016 Pageant chair- man, Mrs. Tangela Dupree, leads the event which is one of the most sig- nificant fundraisers for Gamma Theta Omega. The funds raised will continue to support Alpha Kappa Alpha scholarship programs, which
benefit youth in Hillsborough County.
The pageant is scheduled for Sunday, April 17, 2016, 4 p. m. at The David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, 1010 N. Macinnes Place, Tampa. Tickets are available at www.akagto.com or from any active member of the Gamma Theta Omega Chapter.
