5th Annual Unwrap The Holidays:
‘A Soulful Sleigh Ride’
SKD Entertainment provides a mu- sical toy drive this holiday season.
During this time of the year, there are all kinds of holiday parties and func- tions. Derek Smith, CEO of SKD (Sumthin Kinda Different) Entertain- ment, will be throwing his annual party as well, but will be focusing on giving more than getting. With a heart for the community, Smith invites the commu- nity to join him and the SKD ENT team for “Unwrap the Holidays - A Soulful Sleigh Ride.”
The event will feature 2 nights of Gospel, Soul, Jazz and R&B all under one roof presented by Smith himself.
“We are asking the community to come out and support the event and bring an unwrapped toy so that we may bless less fortunate families for Christ- mas this year.”
This is the 5th edition and when asked what will be different this year, Derek said: “As always we strive to put on a great show, but in addition to that, this year we celebrate not only the holi- days and the cause that is our main focus, but we will host this event in our own building, THE SKD ENTERTAIN-

MENT SOUNDSTAGE. We are super excited about that as well.”
The show will be held on Friday and Saturday, December 11th and 12th at 2501 N. Armenia Ave., Tampa, 33607. Doors open at 8 and the show begins at 9:09 promptly. Limited seating is available. Come out and enjoy some great music by an awesome entertainer and help someone have a better Christmas as well.
Family Ties Extend To Sorority For Tampa Family
On November 15th, another page of history was added to the chroni- cles of a Tampa family. One of the younger members joined a sorority, and became the third generation of the family in that organization.
When Ms. Anastacia Davis was initiated as a member of Gamma Theta Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., she became the sorority sister of not only her mother, but her grand- mother as well.
Ms. Davis joined the Beta Pi Chapter at Alabama State Univer- sity, in Montgomery, Alabama. Among those on hand to wish her well and welcome her into the or- ganization was her mother, Ms. Valrie Kemp-Davis, of East Chicago, Indiana, her grandmother, Mrs. Bertha M. Kemp, a long- time resident of progress village, and longtime family friend, Ms. Sharon Miller, of Winter Haven.
Thirty-one years ago, Ms. Miller was a student of Mrs. Kemp. She was present when Ms. Davis became a member of the or- ganization.
Ms. Sharon Miller, left, is shown with Gamma Theta Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., members Ms. Valrie Kemp-Davis, Ms. Bertha M. Kemp, (seated) and Ms. Anastacia Davis, newly initiated member of the organization.
