State Senator Is Recipient Of National Legislative Award
East Tampa Church Takes Christmas Production To The Straz Center

Christmas is a time to rejoice in the spirit of giving and ac- knowledging the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The members of First Baptist Church of College Hill (FBCCH), Rev. Dr. Evan Burrows, Pastor, have the op- portunity to present a Christ- mas Production, "In the Fullness of Time," in Ferguson Hall of the David A. Straz Cen- ter for the Performing Arts on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at 4 p. m.
The members of the Disci- ples of Vision Drama Ministry and all Ministries of FBCCH are excited about sharing with the entire City of Tampa the unique musical of the birth of Jesus Christ.
The ministry has an opportu- nity to reach out to the entire community of the Tampa Bay Area to share this spiritual filled production and bathe in the Holy Spirit of the Christmas Season with the Disciples of Vi- sion and the Praise Dancers (Choreographed by Beryl Col- bert and Christina McDonald).
Ms. Pavonne Scott and dancers from First Union Mis- sionary Baptist Church, will be joining the cast on stage at the Straz Center.
A Special Choir of FBCCH, directed by Maurice Jackson (a renowned musician and tal- ented creative artist), will add a flair of gospel music to warm your hearts. Several songs in the musical were pinned by Mr. Jackson.
Geri Kelly, director and Martha Joyner, assistant di- rector are working with a very talented cast of characters. The costume designer, Paulette Washington has worked to in- sure that characters are in au- thentic costumes.
Over 20 years, the Disciples of Vision Drama Ministry has produced plays in the sanctu- ary and most recent years at Middleton High School. The full length, God’s Masterpiece, drew over 600 attendees. The cast of over 50 members per- formed with a passion that touched the hearts of all who attended.

Senator Arthenia Joyner
was recently presented a na- tional award. The ceremony took place on November 18th, in Washington, D. C. She was one of four elected officials presented the award.
Senator Joyner was hon- ored as “Legislative Cham- pion,” for the Southern Region by Women In Government (WIG). The recognition was part of the Second Annual “A Taste of the States” fundraiser and was held in the nation’s capital.
Senator Joyner said, “It’s an honor to receive this recog- nition and to join other dedi- cated women from across the country as we continue to work on behalf of the many people we serve.”
Among those in attendance were: Congresswoman Alma Adams, the 100th woman to serve in Congress; Ann Lewis, who represented Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton, and Rep. Phyllis Henderson, repre- senting Presidential Candidate

Tampa's Tree Lighting Ceremony, Santa Fest Friday And Saturday
Tampa's Tree Lighting Cer- emony begins at 6 p.m. on Fri- day, December 4, 2015 with the high-energy sounds of the 10-piece horn band, Late Night Brass. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and snuggle in and enjoy the sounds of the season.
The Magic 94-9 Morning Show’s Chadd & Kristi will host Tampa’s Tree Lighting Ceremony. Chadd & Kristi promise to make your holidays merry and bright with the $1,000 Secret Santa Giveaway. The first family of Tampa, The Buckhorns, will do the hon- ors and throw the switch to light the 30-foot glittering Christmas Tree (approx. 7:50 p. m.).
Immediately following the lighting of the tree will be a free movie in the park featur- ing the delightfully funny hol- iday gem, A Christmas Story.
Santa Claus comes to town on Saturday, December 5, 2015 during the 34th Annual Santa Fest and Downtown Tampa Christmas Parade!
The parade steps off at 11 a. m. and features grand, colorful floats and of course Santa Claus! The parade begins at Madison and Pierce Streets; heads west on Madison Street then turns north onto Ashley Drive, and ends at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.
Parade viewers are encour- aged to arrive by 9 a. m. for ease in parking and to get a good spot.
After the parade, fun con- tinues in Curtis Hixon Water- front Park with Santa Fest. Bring the little elves to Santa Fest for a free keepsake photo with Santa, continuous holi- day entertainment featuring the Tampa Gym & Dance Show Stars, Patel Conserva- tory Jazz Quartet, Patel Con- servatory Arts Program, Rizing Star Dance Academy and the Blake High School Choir; plus interactive games, bounce houses, rock wall, make-n-take crafts, and give- aways. The festival continues until 4 p. m.
