Area Musician Appointed Dean Of The National Convention Of Gospel Choirs And Choruses, Inc.

A Tampa resident has been appointed Dean of the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, Inc.
Dr. Kevin B. Parrott, an area musician, learned of the appointment recently. He was notified on Thursday, July 9, 2020 by the National Presi- dent, Dr. Marabeth Gen- try.
“It is an esteemed honor to carry on the legacy of the founding father of gospel music, Prof. Thomas A. Dorsey,” Dr. Parrott said. “The National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, Inc., is the first and oldest gospel music organization and convention, founded in 1932
virtual convention being held August 10-14, 2020.
A native of Winston- Salem, North Carolina, Dr. K transisted to the Bay Area from Washington, DC/Mary- land area. He received his ed- ucation from Winston-Salem State University and Luther- Rice College and Seminary.
He is the Minister of Music and Administration at Friend- ship Missionary Baptist Church, St. Petersburg, and a teacher in the Pinellas County School System.
