WASHINGTON – Presi- dent Donald Trump's exec- utive order granting clemency for his longtime ally, Roger Stone, wiped away not only his prison sentence, but also the two years he was supposed to spend on probation and the $20,000 fine he was ordered to pay.
The Justice Department on Monday released the presi- dent's executive order after U. S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson sought more information about the
While President Donald Trump obsesses about his re- election hopes in his White House bubble, state and local leaders are frantically reversing state reopenings that he de- manded, which turned America into the world's biggest coron- avirus hotspot.
As emergency rooms filled and the virus quickened its relent- less march across southern and Western states, Trump stuck to the fiction that the worst is al- ready over: "We had to close it down; now we're opening it up," the President said of the econ- omy at the White House, patting himself on the back for saving "millions of lives."
As new cases of the disease reach 60,000 a day nationwide, many leaders, including those who supported Trump's ag-
to a little over three years in prison and two years of super- vised release. Jackson said her inquiry was in response questions from the U. S. Pro- bation Office.
Pres. Trump commuted Stone's sentence late Friday, just days before longtime GOP consultant was set to report to prison. Democrats condemned the move, the latest in a series of instances in which Trump has wielded his broad clemency powers in highly po- litical criminal cases.
Oregon banned gatherings of more than 10 people inside be- cause of an "alarming rise" of Covid-19 cases in the state. KFC encouraged franchises in Florida, Texas, Oklahoma and California to stop dine-in serv- ice.
Florida, which on Saturday set the record for any state in single day data on new infec- tions, now has more Covid-19 cases than all but eight entire countries.
The picture is of a nation that is beginning to shut down again in defiance of the President's tri- umphant but misleading claims that a "transition to greatness" is under way. Restrictions im- posed on cities as large as Hous- ton and Los Angeles could set back the surprising revival in the economy last month.
My Black So Much'
Michelle Obama shared a video on Instagram of an adorable dad and daughter duo singing a song with an important message.
"I love my Black so much, so much, so much. We are strong, and we are powerful," Daniel Johnson, 25, and Dakota, 5, sang in the pow- erful video posted on Thurs- day by the former first lady.
Obama captioned the video: "I just love this! Dakota and Daniel are so right: We are strong. #Black- Joy."
The video was meant to be a way for Johnson to teach his daughter self-love, and it quickly went viral. People all over the world are now shar- ing it as a message of love and acceptance, he said.
"The video was to empower her! But ended up impacting the world," Johnson told re- porters. "It was surreal when she shared it. I got a phone call about it, I didn't even

know. I was driving at the time and had to pull over and process everything."
Obama has been a vocal supporter of the ongoing protests calling for racial jus- tice and equality. In May, she shared her feelings on Insta- gram about the recent killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and others.

In Texas, Houston's Demo- cratic Mayor Sylvester Turner proposed a two-week shutdown, days after Republi- can Gov. Greg Abbott raised the possibility of more stringent measures after issuing a mask wearing mandate that offended conservative orthodoxy. West Virginia called time's up in bars in the worst-hit county.
In California, Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered the closure of all indoor restau- rants, wineries, movie theaters, zoos, museums and shut all bars. Los Angeles and San Diego said their kids would start the new school year online only.
