The Hillsborough County Chapter of Bethune-Cookman University National Alumni Association will host its 35th annual fundraiser, “Future Miss B-CU” Coronation on Sunday, October 9, 2016, 4 p. m. at the College Hill Confer- ence Center, 1002 Martin Luther King Blvd.
The Tampa Alumni Chap- ter is delighted to engage lovely, adorable young ladies in a wholesome, spiritual and competitive event that pro- vides goal settings and lasting friendships. Together, chapter members, parents and friends
generate funds by soliciting ads and donations for the Uni- versity.
The coronation is in honor of the beloved founder, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, who said, “I leave you a re- sponsibility to our young peo- ple....”
The coronation culminates where the contestants are in- troduced in an elegant setting before a throng of well-wish- ers. The contestant whose team raises the highest amount of funds is crowned “Future Miss B-CU.”
Three lovely contestants
will be presented to the com- munity as participants for this gala affair.
Mrs. Raquel Hunter and Jacqueline D. Grant are the Coronation Chairper- sons. The public is invited and encouraged to attend free of charge.
Alumni meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at the Seminole Heights Library, Central Ave. and Osborne Ave. at 7:30 p. m.
Contestants: Chloe Thornton, Jache Brown, Tiesha Williams and Treasure Brown.
Ladies And Gents Lend Hands To Back-To-School Event
The NFL YET Center in Jackson Heights was the site of a Back-To School Event just prior to school opening. These Eastern Star members represent District 41 – Women of Excellence, LOE #321 and DOJ #603. They are, left to right: LaDena Mouling, Shannon Duncan, MeShika Townes, Charlotte Mahan, Tara Thompson, Carlese Peterson, and Annie Thorn-Picard.
Members of the Pride of West Tampa Lodge #1, the oldest lodge in Tampa, were busy on the grill: Jalen Jackson, Orlando Gudes, Big Therman, Andrew Harris, WM; Eric Johnson, SW; Kevin Williams, Lease Sails, Keith McClarin, Tony Bass, Mark Sherman, JW; Big Country, Terrence Gowins, and Lawrence Head.
