First Community Law Enforcement Workshop Planned

The first of eight Commu- nity and Law Enforcement Workshops will take place Monday, October 17th, and Tuesday, October 18th. The workshop will take place at the Clair-Mel Elementary School, 1025 S. 78th Street. It will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 8:45 p.m., on both days.
The workshop will be at- tended by twelve (12) Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s deputies and forty-five (45) citizens. It is open to the public. The work- shops are free and open to the public.
However, anyone wishing to attend must pre-register by October 11th. The attendees will be selected from a pool of persons who pre-register. Pri- ority will be given to persons who live within the 33619 zip code.
The theme for this work- shop is, “Community and Law Enforcement work- ing together toward greater intercultural un- derstanding.”
The workshops are being sponsored by the Hillsborough County Board of County Com- missioners, the United Way Suncoast, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hillsborough County School District.

zens. The goal of these work- shops is to create dialogue be- tween our communities and law enforcement officials so that we can build and maintain positive and productive rela- tionships in our neighbor- hoods.”
In the next year, Hillsbor- ough County will sponsor seven (7) additional workshops in various areas of the county. Five (5) of those workshops will target adults, two will be earmarked for youth and one will be a leadership retreat for elected officials and commu- nity leaders.
The dates and locations of the remaining seven work- shops has not yet been deter- mined.

Five Days Left To Register To Vote!

There are only five (5) days left for individuals who are not registered to vote. The dead- line for registering is Tuesday, October 11th. The General Elec- tion and a Special City Election will take place on November 8th.
All applications must be completed and returned by the deadline in order to be counted. Prospective voters can visit the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Offices, any library, or the Hillsborough County Tax Col- lector’s Offices during normal business hours.
The forms can be picked up, completed, and returned to any of those offices or dropped off at any one of the Hillsbor-
ough County Public Libraries, including the weekend. If mailed, they must be post- marked Tuesday, October 11th.
This year, a new compo- nent has been added for indi- viduals to register. Applicants can visit the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office website and complete the form. The individual must then print it, sign it, mail it, or drop it off at any of the loca- tions accepting voter registra- tion applications.
Vote-By-Mail
On Tuesday, the Hillsbor- ough County Supervisor of Elections Office mailed out 170,000 Vote-By-Mail ballots. However, voters can still re- quest a Vote-By-Mail ballot. The voter must select his or her chosen candidate for each race, sign the back of the envelope
before returning the ballot, which can be mailed or dropped off in person at any of the locations where voting is taking place.
Voter Updates
Anyone needing to make changes to their voter registra- tion information is encouraged to do so early to make sure their information is current and correct.
Voting Locations
All voters must return to the county in which they are registered in order to vote. Or, they must obtain an absentee ballot and return it to that per- spective county by mail and by the deadline.

The Middleton High School Class of 1967 will hold their meet- ing on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 12 noon at C. Blythe Andrews, Jr. Public Library, 2607 E. M. L. K. Jr. Blvd., Tampa, 33610.

The Middleton High School class of 1961 will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 2 P. M. at the Police Sub-Station, 3808 N. 22nd Street. Holiday plans at being finalized. Classmates are encouraged to make an effort to attend.
