New Winners Claim Prizes At 4th Shuffleboard Tournament

On Friday April 27, 2018 the local Shuffleboard organ- ization held its 4th event this year. The Tournament was held at the Ragan Park Com- munity Center, 1200 E. Lake Avenue.
When the tournament ended, new winners took home the prize. Ms. Vonnie Scott was one of the first place winners and Ms. Debra Moore captured the other first place win. Ms. Quency Jefferson and Ms. Estelle Acree were the sec- ond place winners.
Ms. Moore represented Fair Oaks Community Center. Steve Scott, Director and Trainer said, “We want to thank our sponsors, Micah Miller, of Integrity Insur- ance, and Stephen Judd, of Amerilife, our two sponsors for the gift cards. We are look- ing for sponsors to build a Shuffleboard Court in our Community instead of going in others communities to play Shuffleboard. I also want to thank the dominoes players at

Scott is responsible for offering the monthly Shuffle- board. Ms. Katherine Palmer is the Assistant Trainer.
The shuffleboard team members represent the Spring Hill Community Cen-
ter, the Fair Oaks Community Center, and the Ragan Park Community Center.
The teams currently use temporary or portable shuf- fleboards to play during the month. However, Scott has been campaigning to obtain a permanent shuffleboard court in the East Tampa com- munity.
Anyone interested in learning to play shuffleboard can come to Ragan Park Com- munity Center, 1200 E. Lake Avenue. Scott teaches the game to senior citizens on Mondays and Fridays from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. He also teaches the game at Cyrus Greene Community Center on Thursday, from 1 p.m. until
2:30 p.m.
Scott said he uses
portable shuffleboards to train seniors at Williams Park and Fair Oaks Community Centers.
