Motorists Save Family From House Fire
West Tampa Resident Found Dead Identified
Two men are being cred- ited with saving a woman and two children from a burning home. The Hillsborough County Fire Department re- ceived the 9-1-1 call at ap- proximately 11:20 a.m., Sunday.
When firemen arrived at the home on Carnegie Circle, they discovered heavy fire coming from the front of the home. They located an adult woman and two children at a neighbor’s home.
The woman had severe burns and was listed as a trauma alert, the children suffered from smoke inhala- tion. All three were taken to
Tampa General Hospital for treatment.
Investigators learned that two motorists saw the smoke as they were driving down 78th Street and went to inves- tigate. When they arrived, they saw two children’s hands hanging out of a front win- dow. The window had burglar bars.
The two men pulled the children to safety and then opened the door and rescued the woman.
They refused medical at- tention at the scene and drove themselves to the Emergency Room. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
The Tampa Police De- partment has identified the man whose body was found last week.
Police said the death is not being considered a ran- dom killing.
