Lakeland Native Retires After 30 Years Of Service
Lakeland PAL Program
BETHESDA, MD --- A Lakeland High School gradu- ate and Lakeland, Florida na- tive will retire from the U. S. Navy following an impressive 30 year career.
U. S. Navy Master Chief Petty Officer Theophilus Marsh, is a hospital corpsman serving at Navy Medicine Professional Development Center (NMPDC) located in Bethesda, Maryland.
During his career, Marsh served aboard two aircrafts, USS Dwight D. Eisenhower

and USS Kitty Hawk, with
the U.S. Marine Corps at 2d Force Service Support Group at Camp Lejeune, North Car- olina. He led sailors at Navy Hospitals in Annapolis, Maryland, Jacksonville and Mayport, Florida and Charleston, South Carolina, along with serving at other multiple staff commands.
Marsh is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy and earned the En- listed Surface Warfare Spe- cialist, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and Fleet Marine Forces pins.

The Lakeland PAL Pro- gram is celebrating its 24th year Anniversary by having a Fundraiser Dinner and Silent Auction Banquet. The Ban- quet will be held on Thurs- day, November 9th at Lake Mirror Auditorium Lakeland. The starting time for this event is at 6:30 p. m. The guest speaker for the banquet will be Life Coach Renee Lopez.

On Wednesday Septem- ber 13th, the Lakeland Police Athletic League, Lakeland
(PAL) Program mem- bers, Crystal Shavonne, Tim Abram, Shandale Terrell, Shree Chamber- lain, along with several vol- unteers were humbled and honored to give out free water, prepared meals, food baskets, non-perishable goods, fruits, vegetables, lunchables, cases of chicken, cereal and milk to over one thousand victims without electricity and clean water, created by the horrific disas- ter of Hurricane Irma.
The event took place at the Lakeland (PAL) Complex in Lakeland. Donations were made by several businesses and agencies.

Four Enlistees Complete Basic Military Training
Four individuals with ties to the Tampa Bay Area re- cently graduated from basic military training. National Guard Airman 1st Class Hugo M. Rojas Almonte, Airman Latavia L. Barnes-Murphy, Airman Ashley Ruiz, and Airman Allison Sheldon all partic- ipated in their respective graduating classes at the Joint Base San-Antonio- Lackland, in San Antonio, Texas.
All four of the enlistees completed an intensive, eight-week program that in- cluded training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. They each also earned four credits toward an Associate in Ap- plied Science Degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Airman Barnes-Mur- phy is the daughter of Maria L. Barnes, of Riverview, and Timothy D. Murphy, of Seffner. She is the stepdaughter of Sonja M. Murphy, of Seffner. Airman Barnes-Murphy graduated from Tampa Bay Technical High School in

Airman Ruiz is the
daughter of Jason H. and Nora M. Wodack, of Tampa. She graduated from Middleton High School in 2016.
Airman Sheldon is the daughter of Mark T. Shel- don, of Brooksville, and Michelle L. Meyer, of Temple Terrace. Fla. She is also the wife of Peter A. Cerruto. Airman Shel- don graduated from Zephyrhills High School in 2014.
