Lakers Will Pursue
Anthony Davis Traded To Lakers
ANTHONY DAVIS
The Los Angeles Lakers fi- nally have their man — at a hefty cost.
The Lakers have agreed to acquire center Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for guard Lonzo Ball, forwards Bran- don Ingram and Josh Hart, and three first-round picks, including the fourth overall selection in the 2019 NBA Draft.
This is the move the Lakers have wanted to make for months, and they get their second superstar to pair with LeBron James without sur- rendering Kyle Kuzma. It will also make Davis happy, as the Lakers were one of the two teams he wanted to be traded to.
Lakers Will Make Kemba Walker Top Target After Davis Trade
KEMBA WALKER
The Los Angeles Lakers are getting Anthony Davis in the fold, but they know they’ll need more help to turn them- selves into a championship contender. It appears they’re ready to pursue that help.
According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Lakers will make Kemba Walker a top target in free agency after acquiring Davis from the New Orleans Peli- cans.
Neither LeBron James nor Davis are elite perimeter shooters. Walker is more of a threat, a 35.7 percent career three-point shooter who has come close to 40 percent on occasion.

We have now officially entered a bizarro world for the Los Angeles Lakers.
A little over an hour after news broke that the Lakers reached agreement with the New Orleans Pelicans on a trade for Anthony Davis, Magic Johnson went on Twitter and sent his congrat- ulations to Rob Pelinka on
The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly going to try to bring Kawhi Leonard home to Southern California.
Tthe Lakers will pursue Leonard in free agency, pro- vided they have the cap space to make a max contract offer. Leonard would be paired with LeBron James and Anthony Davis as part of the NBA’s newest “su- perteam.”
Whether the Lakers can land him is another question. Returning to California could be intriguing for the Toronto Raptors star, but the Clippers

DeMarcus Cousins ap- peared to confirm his im- pending departure from the Golden State Warriors in an Instagram post on Saturday.
The free agent-to-be shared the message on his In- stagram story, thanking the Warriors and their fans for a memorable season and con- cluding by stating “I’m at ya necks next season.”
In other words, judging by that last sentence, Cousins sees himself elsewhere next season. That’s not a surprise. While he left the door open on a return during his exit in- terviews, the Warriors can

LaVar Ball did not have the best reaction upon learn- ing his son had been traded to the New Orleans Pelicans, according to one observer.
Los Angeles-area high school sports reporter Dylan Stewart tweeted that LaVar was at the Drew League Saturday to watch youngest son LaMelo play and looked visibly upset upon hearing the trade news an-

The trade that sent An- thony Davis to the Los An- geles Lakers on Saturday will have a ripple effect across the NBA, and one of the most in- teresting storylines to follow will be the potential impact it has on Kyrie Irving’s fu- ture. As of very recently, Irv- ing reportedly expressed a desire to play with Davis.
David Aldridge of The Athletic reports that sources have told him “for months” that Irving wants to play with Davis. Of course, Davis is now teammates with LeBron James. The primary reason Irving forced his way out of Cleve-

land was that he was tired of being in LeBron’s shadow, but perhaps his mindset has changed after a tumultuous season with the Boston Celtics.
There is one common thread to the past three NBA championship teams, and it’s not what you would think. Patrick McCaw has been on the championship team each of the past three sea- sons.
McCaw played 71 for the Golden State Warriors as a rookie and won the title in 2017. He played 57 games for them the following season when they won it all, making it 2-for-2. As if that weren’t enough, he was waived by the Cleveland Cavaliers in January and claimed by the Raptors, who went on to win the title this year.
So how does McCaw feel about being a 3-time NBA

champion in his three sea- sons in the league? He showed his mood on Insta- gram Friday:
McCaw is almost halfway to a Horry and at 23 still has plenty of time to match Big Shot Bob’s mark of seven.
