Sky U. White Shares Her Vision For Hillsborough County At Her Campaign Kickoff
Winners Declared In Monthly Shuffleboard Tournament
Sky U. White and her Host Committee hosted her campaign kickoff on Wednes- day, June 12th, at Zydeco Brew Werks in Ybor City, with food and drinks pro- vided, to hear about her pro- gressive vision for Hillsborough County.
“District 3 is one of the most marginalized districts within the county and has been ignored by our elected officials for far too long. We are desperate for a Commis- sioner who is ready, willing and able to fight for the peo- ple and the needs of our dis- trict. I will be that Commissioner,” says Sky U. White.
Sky, who is described as a young tenacious leader whose passion and energies are driven by a deep adora- tion for the county that she has called home all of her life, is running for County Com- mission District 3. She has a clear vision of what the grow- ing county of Hillsborough can be.
An advocate for all, Ms. White has shown her dedi- cation to Hillsborough County through her actions as a sitting member of the Hillsborough County MPO Citizen Advisory Board for Commissioner Kimberly Overman, to founding and

serving as the Program Direc- tor of REBORN Tampa, a non-profit organization that serves underprivileged youth.

For the fifth consecutive month, senior members of the community have gath- ered for the monthly Shuffle- board Competition. Each month, the Shuffleboard Teams come together to square off for the Champi- onship title.
The lively group of active seniors gathered at the Ragan Park Community Center, 1200 E. Lake Avenue, for the showdown. It was held on May 31st.
This month, the competi- tors included the Ladies from the Ella Senior Apartment Complex. Jamie Dicken- son, who represented the Sulphur Springs Seniors, joined the Jazzy Seniors to
compete in the event.
The participants in the
Shuffleboard Competition were: Katherine Palmer and Pearl James, who both captured a first place winner spots. The second place win- ner honors were bestowed upon Sandra Mills and Jamie Dickenson.
This month, the group added a dominoes competi- tion to their activities. The winners of the dominoes competition were: first-place winner Paulette Andrews and the second-place honors went to Sandra Flowers.
Once again, Micah Miller, of Health Matters Pharmacy, was on hand to serve as sponsor and present the winners with gift cards.
Steve Scott is the Trainer and Director of the Shuffle-
board Team. The teams con- sist of senior citizens from throughout Hillsborough County who enjoy remaining active.
Scott invites any seniors who wish to learn the game to contact him.
Scott teaches Shuffle- board on Mondays and Fri- days from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., at Ragan Park Community Center, 1200 E. Lake Avenue. He also teaches the game at Cyrus Greene Community Center on Thursday, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., and he holds training classes at Williams Park and Fair Oaks Community Centers.
