Body Found In River Linked To Missing Tampa Man

Officials have not positively identified the body of a man pulled from the Hillsborough River. However, family mem- bers believe the man is a Tampa resident.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the unidentified African American man was discovered in the Hillsborough River near N. 40th Street on January 1st. The body was transported to the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification.
The Medical Examiner has not officially released the iden- tity of the man or his cause of death.
Meanwhile, detectives with the Hillsborough County Sher- iff’s Office received a missing person’s report on January 1st pertaining to a missing person.
According to a spokesper- son for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, 63- year-old Clennon Fletcher was reported missing at 10:47 a.m., on Tuesday, January 1st.
Fletcher was reportedly last seen around 3 p.m., at the Colonial Assisted Living Facil- ity, 11722 N. 17th Street, on De- cember 26, 2018.

Both investigations are pending positive identification by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Ms. Alicia Fletcher has posted a request for donations on her Facebook page and tagged several individuals. She stated, “We need help for burial of our family mem- ber, Clennon Fletcher. Yes, he’s the one that was found in Hillsborough River on New Year’s.
Anything will help and nothing is too small. It all will be greatly appreci- ated and thanks in ad- vance!”

New Hours
Beginning January 2, 2019, the Sentinel will open at 8:30 a.m., on Mondays and Thursdays and 9 a.m., on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fri- days.
The office will con- tinue to close at 5 p.m., Monday through Thurs- day. It will close at 12 noon on Friday.
