In ‘Teen Talk’ Workshop
BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
Theron P. James, Jr. is a senior at C. Leon King High School. He is encouraging young people ages 12-18 years old to attend a workshop at his church on Saturday, August 27, 2016.
Entitled “Teen Talk!!,” the workshop will be held 10 a. m. – 12 noon in the Walter J. Williams Life Center at New Mt. Zion M. B. Church, 2511 E. Columbus Dr., Tampa (33605). Rev. Larry L. Roundtree, II is the host pastor.
“I want young people to at- tend this event because I would like to be able to reach out to people my age and younger to tell them we are falling by the wayside due to our attitude, behavior, and our perspective toward high au- thority,” James said.
“Not because they have high authority, but because we as young people have lost re- spect toward our parents, our elderly, the justice system, and even ourselves,” he continued.
“Why is that? I know why!! It’s because we are so stuck in our own pride. It is time to wake up and realize ‘the life you’re living in is not a dream...its reality’.”
James, 18, a member of the Youth Dept. that is spon- soring the workshop, is a co- sponsor of “Teen Talk!!,’ along with Deacon Ronal Gra- ham.
To insure that the word gets out about the workshop, James said the Youth Dept.

Receiving A Sound Mind
Lord, thank You for promising us a sound mind. I lay claim to that promise for (name of child). I pray that his (her) mind be clear, alert, bright, intelligent, stable, peaceful, and uncluttered. I pray there will be no confusion, no dullness, and no unbalanced, scattered, unorganized, or negative thinking. I pray that his (her) mind will not be filled with complex or confusing thoughts. Rather, give him (her) clarity of mind so that he (she) is able to think straight at all times. Give him (her) the ability to make clear decisions, to under- stand all he (she) needs to know, and to be able to focus on what he (she) needs to do. Where there is now any mental in- stability, I speak healing in Jesus’ name.
God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 TIMOTHY 1:7
Lord, I pray that (name of child) will so love You with all his (her) heart, soul, and mind that there will be no room in him (her) for the lies of the enemy or the clamoring of the world. May the Word of God take root in his (her) heart and fill his (her) mind with things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praise-worthy (Philippi- ans 4:8). Give him (her) understanding that what goes into his (her) mind becomes part of him (her), so that he (she) will weigh carefully what he (she) sees and hears. I pray that his (her) faith in You and Your Word will grow daily so that he (she) will live forever in peace and soundness of mind.
For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. ROMANAS 8:6
