Choose To Succeed
“Success is the inten- tional, pre-meditated use of choice and deci- sion. Unless you choose with certainty what it is you want, you accept table scraps by default!”
~Gary Ryan Blair mpowered Greet-
ings. I have a couple of questions I want to ask you. Are you tired of eating table scraps? Have you made a decision to succeed?
Only you can define what success is for your life. But in order to achieve success, you must decide that you want it. You must decide what it looks like. You must decide that you will pursue it at all cost.
Don’t sit back and wait for success to pursue you. Again you must pursue it. Don’t wait for opportunities to arise. You must rise and create opportunities for your success.
Stop eating the scraps from life’s table by merely ac- cepting things as they are. Decide to succeed in spite of the defeats you may have faced in life. Decide to rise above living an average life and thinking that being good is good enough.
It’s time to fly and soar as a lone eagle with boldness and poise and stop flocking with turkeys just making a lot of noise. Don’t wait for people to validate you. Vali- date yourself and make an
intentional decision to suc- ceed.
Your success is waiting.

Plastic: Killing Us Softly
e wondered why states, cities and countries
around the world banned plastic straws and left the rest of plastics being used alone. Consider, more than 14 billion pounds of garbage is being dumped into the ocean every year at the rate of 1.5 mil- lion tons per hour. More than 300 million tons of plas- tic are produced each year with half of it being made for single use.
Even though banning plastic straws places a small dent in all of the plastic being used in the world today, more than plastic straws need to be banned in order to protect our environment. Boaters, ships and beach goers should be banned from dumping plastic straws and all other plastic items on our beaches and in our rivers, all of which eventually end up in the ocean.
Why the hype about the use of plastic? Let us tell you some of the reasons we should stop the use of plastic worldwide: Plastic kills 100 million marine animals each year – one million sea birds, hundreds of thou- sands of turtles, seals, whales, fish and other marine animals. Sadly, small bits of plastic are being found in our stool samples from all around the world. When plastic breaks apart into small pieces (micro-plastic), it finds its way into marine animals and human through our air, tap water, food, mosquito bites and other means. Yes, when we are bitten by mosquitoes, some of the micro-plastic in their bodies passes onto us and any animal they bite.
Moreover, it takes some plastics 450 to 1000 years to decompose – plastic bags (10 to 100 years), plastic bottles and caps (450 years), and plastic straws (500 years). One estimate given says that if we don’t reduce our use of plastic by 2050, there will be more plastic in the oceans than there are marine animals.
Therefore, the next time you accept a plastic bag for your purchases; the next time you ask for a straw; the next time you purchase milk and other liquids in plas- tic bottles; or the next time you use or purchase any- thing plastic, THINK ABOUT IT.
By the way, whatever happened to paper straws and re-useable cloth bags?
