Runoff Candidates Named In Four City Municipal Races
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
Last Friday, the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office held a recount in two races. By state law, the recount was required because the number of votes received by the candidates in the City Council District 1 and District 3 were below the per- centage required by state law to de- clare a winner.
Craig Latimer, Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections, and the Canvassing Board for the City of Tampa Municipal Election conducted the recount.
Based on the results, the runoff election planned for next month will feature Jane Castor and David Straz in the election for Mayor. Joseph Citro will take on Walter L. Smith, II, for the District 1 Seat.
In the District 3 race, John Dingfelder will face Stephen Lytle and Orlando Gudes will compete against Jeffrey Rhodes for the Dis- trict 5 Seat. All of the amendments were passed.
During the March 5th election, none of the candidates secured enough votes to be declared the win-
