For many years, the Po- lice Athletic League has provided a safe and healthy environment for children and teenagers. The pro-
gram offers after school care as well as a summer program.
Youngsters attending the facility also have the opportunity to participate in football and cheerlead- ing. However, recently City
Councilman Frank Reddick is shown with PAL Cheerleaders.
Councilman Frank Reddick learned that some parents couldn’t af- ford to pay registration fees, Councilman Red- dick decided to help.
He successfully ob- tained the funding neces- sary through a private donor to help the young athletes in need. The pres-
entation of the check took place on Saturday, Septem- ber 23rd.
“It was my pleasure to help bring the two parties together to benefit the young people in the Police Athletic League (PAL) pro- gram,” Councilman Red- dick said.
He further stated that
the PAL serves as coaches and mentors who teach the youngsters safety and good decision-making skills. More than 500 students are enrolled in the program.
PAL also works in con- junction with other not-for- profits to provide athletic, educational, and recre- ational development.
