Barack Obama Celebrates 57th Birthday With Praise From Michelle, 'Brother' Joe Biden And More
On Saturday, the 44th U. S. president received birth- day wishes from former first lady Michelle Obama, his wife of 25 years, and former Vice President Joe Biden, both of whom shared praise for Mr. Obama on Twitter.
“Happy birthday @BarackObama!” Mrs. Obama, 54, wrote, caption- ing a photo of her husband overlooking a scenic land- scape. “The view is always better with you.”
Biden, 75, posted a selfie he took with Mr. Obama on Monday, when the two stepped out together in Washington, D.C. to grab a bite to eat at Dog Tag Bakery in the Georgetown neighbor- hood.
“Our lunches together were a highlight of every week at the White House.
Barack Obama celebrated his 57th birthday with love from some of the closest people in his life.
Last week’s trip to @DogTag- Bakery was no different,” Biden captioned the image.
“Happy birthday to my brother, my friend, @Barack- Obama.”
Happy Birthday, Barack!
Illinois Celebrates First Official 'Barack Obama Day'
Illinois government of- fices remained open Satur- day as the home state of former President Barack Obama commemorated his birthday under a new state law.
The bill marking Aug. 4 as “Barack Obama Day” throughout the state was en- acted without making the date a full-scale holiday.
The Illinois House nar- rowly rejected a plan to make Obama’s birthday a
state holiday amid worries that the cash-strapped state could not afford to give state employees another paid day off.
The law hailed Obama’s efforts to protect the rights of Americans and build “bridges across communi- ties.”
"It's incredibly proud for Illinois that the president came from Illinois. I think it's awesome, and I think we should celebrate it," Gov.
Bruce Rauner said in signing the measure into law, according to TheHill. "I don't think it should be a formal holiday with paid, forced time off, but I think it should be a day of acknowl- edgment and celebration."
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s for- mer chief of staff, wished Obama a happy birthday on Twitter, saying “57 never looked so good,” according to the publication.
Malia Obama Mulls Over Birthday Gift For Barack While At Dinner With Friends
The clock was ticking for Malia Obama, who only had hours left before she needed to decide on a birth- day gift for her dad, Barack Obama.
The former first daughter went to dinner Friday at Bud- dakan in NYC for her BFF’s birthday, and got hooked up with a private meal in the Asian lounge’s library room. She was seen walking to the restaurant earlier wearing brown overalls.
Sources from the Far East (restaurant) tell The Blast Obama and her friend or- dered charred filet of beef and a side of rice, and then
MALIA OBAMA
enjoyed a bunch of the eatery’s delicious desserts.
During the meal, we’re told the main topic of conver-
sation was about President Obama’s upcoming 57th birthday. #44’s big day was Saturday, and while Malia was unsure what to get the former leader of the free world, she said Barack made it clear he only “Wants her to spend more time with him.”
Also dining next to the ladies were P.R. guru Ronn Torossian and entrepre- neur Mazen Dayem. We’re told the two guys actually picked up the tab for Obama, and she showed her gratitude by buying them a couple shots of Don Julio 1942 tequila before heading out.
