MR. RAYMOND ‘DOBIE’ VERDEJO
A Homegoing celebration for Mr. Raymond “Dobie” Verdejo, who transitioned this earthly life on May 21, 2021, will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021, at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Antonio Wilker- son, Sr., officiating. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
Raymond “Dobie” Verdejo was born February 9, 1949, in Manhattan, New York. He was educated in the public schools of Manhattan, New York.
In 2010, Raymond made his retirement home Tampa, Florida. He was previously em- ployed at L’Oreal Cosmetics for a number of years. He met and married his wife, Estella, at The Fountains of Faulkenburg Com- munity, where they both resided.
Raymond was a member of The First Baptist Church of Progress Village under the pas- torate of Dr. Sam Maxwell. He was actively involved in ministry as a Greeter, attended Tuesday Morning Bible Study and volun- teered wherever needed within the ministry of the church.
He was preceded in death by: mother, Ernestine Elias and father, Ramond Verdejo.
Raymond leaves to cherish loving memories with: a devoted and loving wife, Estella Brown Verdejo; daughters, Denine Ames (Vaughn) of Tampa, Shakira Gattson (Maurice) and Shanae Verdejo of New Jersey; son, RaShawn Verdejo of New Jersey; grandchildren, Sadari Ames, Sanai Ames of Tampa and Makayla Gattson of New Jersey; loving and devoted stepchil- dren, Frankie Luster (Emma), Terrance Brown (Heather) of Tampa, Taran Brown (Jean) of Fort Myers and Yolanda Luster Walker (Ronald) of Port St. Lucie, FL. A special friend and confidant, Jarrod Shelton of At- lanta, GA, and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends.
There will be a viewing on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N 29th Street, Tampa, Florida from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Due to the cur- rent CDC restrictions, we are asking that you use the visita- tion as an opportunity to pay your final respect. For your con- venience and safety, we have ex- tended our visitation hours. Masks will be required.
