A 33-year old Tampa man was arrested Monday. He is facing several counts of pos- session of child pornography.
According to the Tampa Police Department, detectives launched their investigation after they received a tip from the National Center for Miss- ing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip was in re- gard to several files of child pornography, including some depicting the sexual battery of a child.
On May 11, 2021, detec- tives executed a search war- rant at 16227 Enclave Village, Apartment 207. They discov- ered several computer devices belonging to Daniel R Hemphill, who advised de- tectives after being read his Miranda rights, he was the only person with access to his cell phone and that facial recognition is required to un-

lock the device.
The items were trans-
ported to The Tampa Police Cyber Crimes Lab for forensic review.
During the forensic review, over 100 images constituting child pornography were recov- ered. Many of the images con- tained on Hemphill’s device depict various forms of sexual
battery of a child.
Based on the admission
that no one other than Hemphill has access to his phone, facial recognition is re- quired to unlock the device, and the number of images and videos located on the device during the forensic examination, a warrant was is- sued for Hemphill’s arrest.
Hemphill surrendered at the Orient Road Jail on Mon- day. He was charged with 100 counts of possession of child pornography.
