Dance Group’s Performance To Benefit University Area Center
Voice Your Body (VYB) Dance, a group of talented dancers founded in the Tampa Bay Area in 2007, will present its annual Heart 2 Heart Charity Showcase at the University Area Community Development Corporation Community Center. The event will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016, 7 p. m.
Local artists will collaborate on one stage to entertain and make a difference. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the University Area CDC.
The evening will begin with a cocktail hour and live music, followed by the per- formance at 8 p. m. A dessert bar and champagne will complete the event.
UACDC offers support for thousands of Tampa residents through youth pro- grams, adult education and resource assistance. Its primary mission is the redevel- opment and sustainability of the at-risk area surrounding the University of South Florida Tampa campus.
VYB teaches various styles of dance classes weekly, performs for special events, and organizes community functions.

Moffitt Cancer Center Hosts ‘Moffitt Healthy KIDZ Hug A Science Teacher’ Event

Moffitt Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Insti- tute-designated Comprehen- sive Cancer Center based in Florida, will host an event through its Moffitt Healthy KIDZ Program.
The Moffitt Healthy KIDZ Program will host 30 Hills- borough County Science Teachers grades 6-12, ten county administrators, and representatives from MOSI, giving the educators an op- portunity to see firsthand in- side Moffitt’s world-class center.
The event, ‘Hug a Science Teacher,’ will begin with opening remarks from Dr.

B. Lee Green, Ph.D., vice president of diversity and community relations at Mof- fitt, and will include yoga demonstrations, a tour of Moffitt labs, an interactive MOSI display and discussion about healthy lifestyle in ed- ucation.
In addition, Dr. Nagi Kumar will speak to the group about Moffitt’s current partnership with the Florida Commissioner of Agriculture, Adam Putnam, and how the collaboration is aimed at fighting the growing con- cerns with Florida’s food deserts and how limited ac- cess to a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables can im-

Through this partnership, Moffitt plans to expose and develop future STEM (Sci- ence, Technology, Engineer- ing and Mathematics) careers to students.
