Spread Some Love With These Heart Shaped Breakfast Foods
Heart Shaped Pancakes
DIRECTIONS: Make your favorite pancake batter recipe. Using plastic kitchen squeeze bottles, you simply draw your heart design in a nonstick skillet. Start with the outline of the heart first, then draw a pattern inside. A minute later fill in the open areas to create color varia- tion. For a variation, you could also add fresh diced strawberries in the batter and use heart molds to shape your pancakes. Flip to cook through, and serve with a few strawberry slices!
Heart Shaped Eggs
DIRECTIONS: Use metal or silicone molds to fry eggs into the shape of hearts. Heart Shaped Bacon
DIRECTIONS: Fold bacon strips into hearts on a baking sheet (inset with a rack if you have one) and bake at 400 degrees until crisp.
Strawberry Heart Kebabs
DIRECTIONS: Hull a few large strawberries and cut them in half from top to bottom. Place the berry halves cut-side down on a cutting board and push a small heart-shaped straight down through them to make perfect little hearts.
Thread the berry hearts onto a skewer, alternating with grapes, blueberries, Mandarin orange wedges or other small pieces of fruit.
If the way to someone's heart is through their stomach, this made-with-love breakfast will have your valentine's heart yearning for more!
Strawberry Mimosa
6-7 fresh strawberries, more for garnish 1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice
Ginger Liqueur
Champagne
DIRECTIONS: Blend strawberries and lemon juice together in a blender/mixer increasing speed to high for up to 45 seconds to liquefy.
Add strawberry mixture to champagne flute to taste, about 1 Tbsp. Add 1/2 Tbsp. of ginger liqueur to the glass and fill rest of the way with champagne. The bubbles from the cham- pagne will mix everything together in a minute or so, no need to stir.
Garnish with a strawberry.
