 Bucs Waive RB Shaun Wilson
Todd Gurley’s Trainer Confirms RB Is Dealing With Arthritis In Knee
TODD GURLEY
There has been a lot of talk about Todd Gurley battling knee issues since he was largely ineffective in the Super Bowl and NFC Championship Game, and we finally have confirmation that there is at least something going on.
Gurley’s trainer, Trav- elle Gaines, told Dave Richard of CBS Sports this week that Gurley is manag- ing some pain and soreness in his knee, but he referred to it as an “arthritic component” that was expected after the star running back tore his ACL in college.
Sean McVay, Girlfriend Get Engaged
SEAN MCVAY AND VERONIKA KHOMYN
Sean McVay is having a heck of an offseason.
The Los Angeles Rams head coach proposed to girl- friend Veronika Khomyn, who said yes, based on her In- stagram.
Khomyn posted a photo on her Instagram Story Satur- day night that showed her flashing a ring on her finger and the words “Can’t wait to call him my husband.”
Khomyn posted on Fri- day to say she was on vacation in Cannes, France. A day later she shared the engagement news, so it appears he may have proposed during their trip.
Tom Brady Appears To Be Working Out With Josh Gordon
JOSH GORDON AND TOM BRADY
The Tampa Bay Bucca- neers waived second-year running back Shaun Wil- son on Friday.
Wilson played in five games as a rookie and opened the 2018 season as the team's primary kickoff re- turner.
Wilson originally joined the Buccaneers as an un- drafted free agent out of Duke in 2018. He made the 53-man roster to begin the season but ended the year on injured reserve due to a shoulder ailment. Wilson's rookie totals included six car- ries for 29 yards, three recep- tions for five yards and seven kickoff returns for 122 yards (17.4-yard average).
The Buccaneers did not immediately make a corre- sponding roster move and

thus stand at 89 players, one fewer than the limit for train- ing camp. With Wilson's re- lease the Buccaneers have five running backs on the roster: holdovers Peyton Barber, Ronald Jones and Dare Ogunbowale, veteran addition Andre Ellington and undrafted rookie Bruce Anderson.
It remains unclear if Josh Gordon will be al- lowed to play at all in 2019, but Tom Brady is doing his best to keep the wide receiver sharp in the event that he is able to contribute with the New England Patriots this season.
On Wednesday, Brady shared some photos and videos on Instagram that ap- peared to show him working
out with Gordon and throw- ing passes to the star wide re- ceiver.
Gordon was suspended indefinitely toward the end of last season for another viola- tion of the NFL’s substance abuse policy, and there was initially some chatter that he could be banned for life this time. It would be a surprise if he was allowed to play in the first half of 2019.
Cam Newton Tried To Pay Man $1,500 To Swap Seats On Flight, Got Turned Down
CAM NEWTON
Drew Brees Signed
Cam Newton tried to pay someone $1,500 to swap seats with him on a plane flight and was turned down, according to a person on the flight.
A man named Eli Ed- wards shared video on Twit- ter Friday of Newton talking with someone at a seat on a plane flight. Edwards says that Newton offered the man $1,500 cash to swap seats on their flight. The Car- olina Panthers quarterback was apparently trying to get extra leg room. Newton ap- peared to be sitting coach on the flight based on where he sat down after apparently being turned down.
Newton attended Men’s Fashion Week in Paris and appeared to be returning home from that event. Ed- wards was in Paris as well, though he was there propos- ing to his fiancee at the Women’s World Cup.
Between the proposal and his Newton video going viral, Edwards is having a huge week on social media.
As for why Newton was- n’t flying in business or first class, we’re wondering that too. Maybe he just jumped on a flight to get home early and figured he would just try to buy his way into a better seat, but the plan did not seem to work out.
Drew Brees has been the King of New Orleans for more than a decade now, and it will soon be time for him to hand the crown over to some- one else. That someone may not play for the Saints, how- ever.
After Zion Williamson was drafted No. 1 overall by the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday, Brees gifted him an autographed jersey with an awesome message on it. The 40-year-old quarterback told told Williamson he is “passing the torch” to him.
Williamson will turn 19 in a few weeks, which means he was only 9 when Brees led the Saints to their first championship in franchise history. It must be a surreal feeling for him to have a fu-

ture Hall of Famer say some- thing like that to him.
Brees isn’t the only ad- mirer of Williamson that the Saints have, either. Sean Payton made it clear how he feels about Zion as soon as the Pelicans earned the top pick in the draft. The hype surrounding Williamson is very, very real.
