Mavs Offer Harrison Barnes 4-Year,
Local
LeBron James is starting a process that could see the Cleveland Cavaliers forward become the NBA's first $200 million man and the highest- paid player for a single season in league history in 2017.
James informed the Cava- liers on Tuesday night that he will not pick up his $24 million player option for next season. This move, which was ex- pected, potentially paves the way for James to sign the largest total value contract in league history next year.
James has the option to sign a one-year deal with the Cavs for $27.5 million for next season, which is about $3.3
million less than he could get were he to sign a multiyear deal in which the first year would be worth $30.8 million. Under league rules, the Cavs aren't able to give him the full max next season on a one-year con- tract.

$95M Contract
HARRISON BARNES
The Dallas Mavericks intend to sign restricted free agent Harrison Barnes to a max offer sheet on the first day they are able, according to league sources.
The Mavericks have com- mitted a four-year max contract to Barnes worth an estimated $95 million, which can be final- ized July 7, when a league wide moratorium is lifted on signings and trades.
The Golden State Warriors would have three days to match any offer sheet Barnes signs. Golden State officials have been adamant that they will match any offer on Barnes unless they win the Kevin Durant sweep- stakes.
Sources say the Mavericks understand that actually getting Barnes will be difficult but feel compelled to make a run at him given their need for youth and athleticism.
The law enforcement inves- tigated three separate acci- dents in Hillsborough County that has left 7 people dead.
The first accident took place Friday night on I-275 in the northbound lanes of the Howard Frankland Bridge. Of- ficials said Joshua Eric Bur- bank, of Wesley Chapel, was driving his 2014 Honda Civic when for undetermined rea- sons, lost control of the vehicle and entered the inside lane. His vehicle then collided with a 2012 GMC Sierra.
The Sierra went into a spin, rotated, and overturned sev- eral times before falling into Tampa Bay, coming to rest in about 2 feet of water.
All three people in the Sierra, described as a man, age 76, his wife, age 73, and their son, age 52, died at the scene. All three were residents of
Leesburg, Florida and the names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Burbank received minor injuries. Burbank was charged with 3 counts of DUI Manslaughter, 1 count of DUI Property Damage, and 1 count of careless driving.
Early Saturday morning, Florida Highway Patrol re- sponded to the scene of a four car accident on U. S. 301 and Stacy Road.
According to police, Ms. Elisa Chanel Riquelme, 28, of Zephyrhills, was traveling southbound on U. S. 301, driv- ing a 2005 Volkswagen Beetle. At around 5:40 a.m. Ms. Riquelme attempted to pass another vehicle when she re- portedly collided head-on with a 1999 Ford Explorer.
Ms. Riquelme died as a result of the injuries she sus- tained.
The Explorer was driven by
Matthew Alfonso Garcia,
24, of Riverview, who was ejected from his vehicle. He died at the scene. His passen- ger, Corey Samuel Dor- many, 24, of Seffner, also sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
A 2013 Ford F150, driven by Gordon Jones Price, 64, 0f Tampa, struck the back of the Ford Explorer and the Ex- plorer caught fire. Price was not injured.
Stevie Tyrone Gainey,
58, of Tampa, driving a 1994 Chevrolet S10, collided with the back of the Ford F150. He received minor injuries.
The Tampa Police Depart- ment responded to a fatal acci- dent on the Courtney Campbell Causeway, shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday. Police said the accident involved a motorcycle and a vehicle.
One person died in the ac- cident and another was trans- ported to a local hospital. Police have not released the names of those involved in the accident, pending notification of next of kin.
Kevin Durant Tells Team’s Decision Will Come By Monday
Kevin Durant has told the clubs he is meeting with in The Hamptons that his free- agency decision will be made by Monday, according to league sources.

Oklahoma City, where Du- rant has played the first nine years of his career, has re-
quested another meeting with Durant after he sits down with Miami, but no decision has been made on whether that will take place, sources said.

Al Horford, Celtics Agree On Deal; Agent Says
4 Years, $113 Million
Free-agent big man Al Horford has agreed to terms with the Boston Celtic on a four-year max deal worth $113 million.
The deal, which includes a player option after the third year and was first reported by The Vertical, came as the team was meeting with prized free agent Kevin Durant on Sat- urday.
As a nine-year veteran, Horford was eligible for 30 percent of the new $94.1 mil- lion salary cap and will earn roughly $28.2 million in the first year of the deal.
League sources stated that the Atlanta Hawks’ final offer
was five years and $136 mil- lion, which was less than a max deal. The sources added that, with Horford's departure, the Hawks will halt trade talks re- garding Paul Millsap.
