Detectives Investigate Murder In Thonotosassa

Barricaded Man Arrested After Standoff
     The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the murder of a woman in Thonotosassa. They discov- ered the murder while con- ducting a welfare check
According to police, on Saturday, December 11, 2021, just before 2 p. m. deputies were dispatched to the 9400 block of Goldenrod Road to conduct a welfare check. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a deceased fe- male.
There was no additional information released on the murder. However, police said at this time there is no threat to the public. Detec-
tives believe this is an iso- lated incident.

said, “We are devastated to see such senseless violence end someone’s life.
“Detectives are currently working to piece together the events that led up to this tragic death. This cruel vio- lence will not be tolerated in our community, and will not go unpunished.”

Police are currently inves- tigating shots being fired at a neighborhood park. The inci- dent took place last Friday. The incident took place shortly after 4 p. m.
According to the Tampa Police Department, officers were dispatched to Giddens Park, 5202 N. 12th Street in reference to shots being fired.
When officers arrived on scene, 1 adult female and 1 adult male suffered gunshot wounds. Both were transported to the hospital with non-life- threatening injuries.
No one has been arrested in connection with the shoot- ing. The investigation is con- tinuing.

During the investigation, officers learned the handgun was fake. Singleton was arrested and charged.

Shots Fired At
Police arrested an 18-year- old man and charged him after he barricaded himself inside a house in the 6600 block of N. 23rd St. He was charged with domestic vio- lence strangulation and re- sisting arrest without violence.
According to the Tampa Police Department, Dionte Singleton and the victim, a juvenile male, were in an ar- gument when Singleton al- legedly committed battery on the juvenile. Singleton is also alleged to have grabbed a hand gun and racked it, causing family members to run outside and call police.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has identified and arrested a man wanted in connection with an at- tempted sexual battery that took place on November 27th.
He has been identified as Ron Smith, 42, who uses the alias of Stephen D. Smith, who was arrested on December 9th. He is currently being held in the Hillsbor- ough County Jail on a bond set at $250,000.
Sheriff Chad Chronis- ter said Smith, who is homeless, was unable to com- plete the sexual battery. How- ever, enough DNA evidence was able to identify Smith as the suspect in the case after getting a match with a sample collected from a prior convic- tion.
Smith is also a suspect in a purse-snatching at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park in Tampa, having been booked into the Hillsborough County Jail on Dec. 2 before getting bonded out.
Sheriff Chronister also said Smith was just released from a Pennsylvania state prison on June 25, 2021. He has no permanent address, according to his jail record.
 Investigation
The Tampa Police Depart- ment is continuing its investi- gation into a shooting that took place outside the 1701 Restaurant Lounge, 1701 W. Waters Avenue, while a crowd was gathered in the parking lot. The shooting took place around 2:30 a. m., and in- volved several patrons.
Police said a fight took place, followed by an uniden- tified shooter displaying a gun and fired shots toward the club. Another unidentified man started firing back. The second man to begin shooting was struck by a bullet. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
No one is under arrest at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
RON SMITH
The victim told police she was walking in the area of Ce- lestial Oaks Drive and Central Ave. North when she was ap- proached by the suspect.
He asked the victim for money and cigarettes. The victim did not give him any- thing and continued walking.
The suspect approached the victim again near the in- tersection of Central Avenue North and 138th Avenue East.
This time, the suspect pushed her to the ground and attempted to sexually batter her. He told the victim he had a knife.
Smith has been charged with 2 counts of sexual bat- tery with a weapon; armed false imprisonment; and rob- bery with a deadly weapon.
